I feel obligated to have a list of at least five.. but this is tough. I didn't care for too much music this year. And I work in a music store, so don't tell me I need to go listen to more! :tongue2:

1. Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero
2. The Killers - Sawdust
3. The White Stripes - Icky Thump
4. Interpol - Our Love to Admire
5. Radiohead - In Rainbows

If we're counting greatest hits and/or re-releases, put Led Zeppelin's Mothership and The Song Remains the Same releases on my list.

I forgot about Wilco's CD and All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone by Explosions in the Sky..

I'm a pretty big Wilco fan, and I gotta say that putting that album in my Top 5 for the year was a bit of a "homer" pick. I mean, with this kind of thing at some point you gotta make your picks based on what you personally find entertaining on the most basic levels - and for me Sky Blue Sky achieves that. At the same time though, I don't view the album as one of the Top 5 artistic achievements among albums released in 2007, and overall, doesn't quite stand up to their previous three studio albums. It has two songs (Impossible Germany, Side With The Seeds) that are probably as good as anything they have ever done or will ever do. Most of the rest of the album for me is entertaining but somewhat forgettable. For me it's kind of comparable to Being There in that respect.

Those comments refer to something I've been thinking about lately - my Top 5 Songs of 2007. I figure it's probably not worth starting a new thread over this, so I'll just tack it on to the end of this one.

They are:
  1. "All My Friends" by LCD Soundsystem
  2. "La Costa Brava" by Ted Leo + Pharmacists
  3. "Side With The Seeds" by Wilco
  4. "Black Like Me" by Spoon
  5. "Impossible Germany" by Wilco
