Auburn -5.5 vs S Carolina at ATL (ov/un 61.5) 4 ET, CBS

This game is everything that is wrong with these made-for-tv conference championship games. A team goes unbeaten in its conference. No one else loses fewer than two games. The unbeaten team beat all of them, and their 3 loss opponent in this game.

How many times do they have to win the conference?

It's easy to hate Auburn this year, but if Ohio State ends up in such a situation someday a lot of folks will be royally pissed, and rightfully so. I love watching the games, but the system in college football really sucks.

Before someone else points it out to me, :wink2:, the flip side to my argument is if Auburn loses and misses out on a shot at the MNC it's the fault of the SEC for creating a CCG in the first place. If they hadn't, Auburn would already be in the title game based on winning the regular season conference title.

The CCG makes money, but can cost your conference a title shot. The SEC is getting two BCS paychecks either way.

Same with NFL. The Patriots were undefeated - including beating the NYG already. Unless there's a multiple games playoff like the NFL, someone is going to be slighted. In football, a non PI call can flip the result of the game. I agree with you though, Auburn shouldn't have to play this game again, especially in SC.

Without the SECCG no UF and LSU in the 06 & 07 BCSCG. It's a trade off, to be sure, but it allows for a one or two loss SEC team to get a bump over our BCS wanne be rivals. It will bite us in the ass eventually.

I don't feel bad for them because there is no way the most corrupt conference in sports will let their undefeated team lose this game.

It's not at all the same as the NFL, where each conference plays by the same rules. And unlike South Carolina and Auburn, the Giants are not in New England's conference.

Auburn and TCU have done the same thing - go undefeated in conference, and overall - except Auburn did it against superior competition. While Auburn has to win another game, TCU is sitting on the couch. The horny toads don't have to win another game to advance their cause.

I don't feel bad for them, I just don't like the system. I agree, though, that it won't be shocking if some close calls fall Auburn's way.

already did.

2001.
Tennessee was in the National Championship Game.

Then lost in SEC CG to a 3 loss LSU team they already beat in the regular season.
