For the third straight week, the Big Ten conference gave us an ending to a game which made us just scratch our heads. Once again, it came in a game involving one of the Michigan schools as if we needed more reason to dislike the state. This weekend the referees brought their “A” game to Lincoln, Nebraska and blew a call which effectively ended the dream of a championship for Michigan State. It is a shame to see a season go down in flames like that. Take a look for yourself:

What are your thoughts? Was the receiver forced out by the DB or did he simply run out of bounds? The Buckeye Battle Cry will have more on this later this week.

Illinois (5-4 overall, 2-3 conference)

Last Week: Beat Purdue, 48-14. So many people got duped into thinking Purdue was suddenly a good team because they beat Nebraska. They forgot that Purdue’s only win besides Nebraska was home against Indiana State. Illinois was not fooled and demolished the Boilermakers on all fronts. Running Backs Ke’Shawn Vaughn and Josh Ferguson combined for 313 rushing yards and two touchdowns to help the Fighting Illini put up 595 yards of total offense.

This Week: The Illini welcome our Buckeyes to town. Will the Illini RB tandem be able to keep the momentum going against a sometimes flaky Buckeye run defense?

This Week in Recruiting: Illinois did not have any commits this week. They sit at 17 commits for the 2016 class.

Indiana (4-5 overall, 0-5 conference)

Last Week: Lost to Iowa, 27-35. Once again, the Indiana Hoosiers played a top team tough but came up short. After taking the Buckeyes, Spartans, and Hawkeyes to the wire and losing, you have to wonder how much the team has left to give. Jordan Howard led the Hoosier offense by effectively gauging the Iowa Hawkeye defense only allowing 174 yards and two touchdowns.

This Week: Indiana welcomes the team up north to town. How much will they have to give against another top-tier team?

This Week in Recruiting: Indiana did not have any commits this week. They sit at 10 commits for the 2016 class.

Iowa (9-0 overall, 5-0 conference)

Last Week: Beat Indiana, 35-27. Iowa was once again led on offense by their running game. Akrum Woodley ran for 120 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries and LeShun Daniels Jr. added 78 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

This Week: The Hawkeyes host Minnesota in what many believe may result in an upset. I’m not one of those.

This Week in Recruiting: Iowa did not have any commits this week. They sit at 24 commits for the 2016 class.

Maryland (2-7 overall, 0-5 conference)

Last Week: Lost to Wisconsin, 24-31. Maryland lost their sixth straight game but played well against a decent team. The Terrapin defense held Wisconsin to 305 total yards and only 117 yards rushing. Unfortunately, the Maryland offense could not get things going and only managed 316 total yards and two turnovers. The best offensive player for Maryland was their starting defensive back, William Likely who ran for 56 yards.

This Week: Maryland travels to East Lansing to take on some angry Spartans. It will be interesting to see how this one goes.

This Week in Recruiting: Maryland did not have any commits this week. They sit at 18 commits for the 2016 class.

Michigan (7-2 overall, 4-1 conference)

Last Week: Beat Rutgers, 49-16. Michigan came out with a little attitude this game and showed a no-mercy approach. Even up 25 points in the third quarter, Coach Jim Harbaugh was going for the two point conversion. Jake Ruddock played his best game of the year throwing for 337 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he added another touchdown on the ground. That last weekend in November is shaping up to be a dog fight.

This Week: Michigan travels to Bloomington. The Wolverines should know not to take the Hoosiers lightly. They have almost taken down the other three B1G heavyweights but I think this one will be a different story. I’d be surprised if it is close.

This Week in Recruiting: Michigan received a commit from 4-star DE Carlo Kemp. They sit at 22 commits for the 2016 class.

Michigan State (8-1 overall, 4-1 conference)

Last Week: Lost to Nebraska, 38-39. You really do have to feel bad for the Spartans but in reality they should have never let the game get to that point. Nebraska was coming in reeling after a demoralizing loss to Purdue and the Spartans should have run over them on their way to a showdown with Ohio State. Instead they allowed the Cornhusker offense to gain 499 total yards. Connor Cook led the way for the Spartans with 335 passing yards and four touchdowns.

This Week: Michigan State welcomes Maryland to town. Let’s see if the Spartans come in with the right mindset and aren’t looking ahead to the Buckeye match-up.

This Week in Recruiting: Michigan State did not have any commits this week. They sit at 20 commits for the 2016 class.

Minnesota (4-5 overall, 1-4 conference)

Last Week: Lost to Ohio State, 14-28. The Golden Gophers were able to keep Cardale Jones in check but were unable to generate any ground game to help their defense keep the Buckeyes offense off the field. The potent Gopher offense was held to only 33 rushing yards on 26 carries but QB Mitch Leidner stepped up throwing for 281 yards.

This Week: Minnesota travels to another Top 10 and undefeated team when they take on the Iowa Hawkeyes. A lot like Indiana, does this Minnesota team have any more to give after two tough losses?

This Week in Recruiting: Minnesota did not have any commits this week. Minnesota now sits at 17 commits for the 2016 class.

Nebraska (4-6 overall, 2-4 conference)

Last Week: Beat Michigan State, 39-38. What a giant win for this Cornhusker team. They were spiraling down a losing path so to even put themselves in a position to win this game after the Purdue thrashing the week prior is amazing. Whether the play should have counted (it shouldn’t have) or not, you have to appreciate the resiliency on this Cornhusker team. The offense was led by QB Tommy Armstrong who combined for 339 yards of offense and four touchdowns.

This Week: Nebraska travels to Piscataway to take on Rutgers. Nebraska needs a win here and an upset in their final game against Iowa to be bowl eligible.

This Week in Recruiting: Nebraska received a commitment from 3-star running back Tre Bryant. They sit at 16 commits for the 2016 class.

Northwestern (7-2 overall, 3-2 conference)

Last Week: Beat Penn State, 23-21. Northwestern won the game on a 35-yard field goal by Jack Mitchell with 13 seconds remaining in the game. Starting QB Clayton Thorson was injured in the first quarter but back-up Zack Oliver came in and paced the offense with 111 yards passing through the air and two total touchdowns.

This Week: Home vs Purdue who we established earlier is not good at college football.

This Week in Recruiting: Northwestern did not have any commits this week. They sit at 19 commits for the 2016 class.

Penn State (7-3 overall, 4-2 conference)

Last Week: Lost to Northwestern, 21-23. Christian Hackenberg struggled mightily only connecting for 205 yards through the air and no touchdowns. Saquon Barkley gained 125 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

This Week: Bye Week.

This Week in Recruiting: Penn State did not have any commits this week. They sit at 19 commits for the 2016 class.

Purdue (2-7 overall, 1-4 conference)

Last Week: Lost to Illinois, 14-48. Sophomore QB David Blough went 29-47 for 174 yards through the air and threw two interceptions. Markell Jones added 84 yards on the ground.

This Week: The Boilermakers travel east to take on the academic football powerhouse known as Northwestern.

This Week in Recruiting: Purdue received a de-commitment from 3-star LB Collin Miller. They sit at 8 commits for the 2016 class.

Rutgers (3-6 overall, 1-5 conference)

Last Week: Rutgers lost to Michigan, 16-49. The Scarlet Knight defense gave up at least 48 points for the fourth game in a row. Rutgers was only able to muster up 225 yards of total offense while the defense gave up 487 yards. Rutgers was led by Robert Martin who ran for 81 yards on 10 carries.

This Week: Welcome Nebraska to town. The Nebraska offense is on a roll and the Rutgers defense in struggling. Could be another long day for the Rutgers faithful.

This Week in Recruiting: Rutgers did not have any commits this week. They sit at 18 commits for the 2016 class.

Wisconsin (8-2 overall, 5-1 conference)

Last Week: Wisconsin beat Maryland, 31-24. After returning last week, Corey Clement sat this game out and Dare Ogunbowale filled in but only managed 47 rushing yards and two total touchdowns. QB Joel Stave added 188 through the air.

This Week: Bye Week.

This Week in Recruiting: Wisconsin did not have any commits this week. They sit at 20 commits for the 2016 class.
