Are You Traveling for Thanksgiving?

So, who is hitting the road for Thanksgiving?

We are staying here as the wife works the day before and day after. I'm kind of glad as the weather forecast is for heavy snow on Thursday, which means it will be sunny.

Staying in Chicago for the feast at the in-laws. My wife spent all day last Saturday at her Mom's starting the preparation. She's over there again today. I'll do my job - showing up hungry on Thursday.

I'm very pleased with how these responsibilities are broken out for this Thanksgiving dinner thing.

I thought you moved to be closer to the in-laws? :wink2:

hell no  further away from her (just my mother in law), she's Satan and she'll be here for Christmas.

my father in law actually lives about two hours away from us in Ocala but he's a dead beat... we've lived here for over a year now and he's has made no attempts to come down to see his grand kids who he's never seen... in fact I'm not sure my wife has even talked to him over the phone, they only reason we know he's here is because my wife stays in contact with her Aunt (his sister). I met him once... at our wedding 9.5 years ago.

there's always drama with her side of the family. :smash:

I have no idea what that means :( who's Riley?

Either Jackie Gleason or William Bendix. It was an ancient TV show, even before my time. It was an expression meaning a life of luxury.

And this from bartleby.com:

A life of luxury: “Sheila found herself living the life of Riley after she won the lottery.” The expression comes from a popular song of the 1880s, “Is That Mr. Reilly?”, in which the title character describes what he would do if he suddenly became wealthy.

ah.... OK, I was hoping it wasn't an Alien reference

Headed up to NE Ohio as soon as I can get out of work tomorrow (hopefully no later than 1:00 - I'd like to beat some of the traffic out of town). What's the snow forecast up there?

I get two dinners on Thursday - one at my parents' house, then one with the in-laws. Ugh.
