Are You Not Entertained? Western Michigan

Welcome back Buckeyes.
Sort of.
The big-play offense we all have been longing for made a reappearance Saturday as Ohio State throttled Western Michigan. Three of OSU’s four offensive touchdowns were at least 37 yards. The offense had 223 on the ground and 288 in the air. Good balance. I still would like to see OSU be able to run the ball up the gut more effectively but I think the Buckeyes took a huge step forward offensively.
Defensively, meh. While the Silver Bullets allowed just 12 points, they gave up a 55-yard TD pass and 169 on the ground and in the air. That’s way too much on the ground. I thought they could stop a simple trap run better than that. But the pick-6 was nice.
Wasn’t thrilled with 12 penalties for 86 yards either.
Anyhow, in general I was happy.
Here’s why:
Scott
Win: Got that. Never in doubt.
Look good: I think it was nice to watch.
Mali Buckeye
40 or more points: Almost.
Decisiveness (no false starts): Only had two … one by a lineman.
Let’s enjoy the Raekwon Experience: Not bad, eight assisted and eight unassisted tackles.
Aggressiveness: Thought both sides were fairly aggressive. Offense more.
Ken
Convincing win (3 TD or more): Yup.
No injuries: Not sure I heard of any.
An offense that knows what the hell it’s doing: I think the offense finally showed up.
Charles
Offense: Present.
Continued improvement in the kicking game: In all facets it was much-improved.
Limit the penalties: Way too many.
No more than 1 interception: Each “QB” had one.
Wva Buckeye
Don’t be gun shy: We flung it down the field. Finally.
Silver Bullets. Silver Bullets. Silver Bullets: Not so much. Not so much. Not so much.
Stick with whomever starts: Cardale was the man. JT was in at the very end.
Patrick
J.T. Barrett: Not needed. Although there were a few grumblings up in 28C.
Defense: Almost held WM to under 10 points. Got thrashed on the ground a little though.
EZE: Had 124, a TD and a couple hurdles. Not bad. It’s coming.
WR play: Nine different receivers caught a pass. Nobody had double digits. I like it. Can’t key on one guy.
Mike
A can of whoop ass on offense: Offense scored 31 points. I would have liked to have seen 60 as well, Mike.
“A Star Is Born” at QB: Not sure a star was born, but Cardale Jones is emerging.
Defense keeping its Silver Bullet identity with great play: Meh.
Special special teams: There was a kick blocked, partially. However a bonehead holding penalty at the other end negated it and likely cost OSU points.
