If you buy it to play games (at retail price) then it is a ripoff, but if you plan on getting a nice sized memory stick pro duo, and can invest the time to convert videos, plan on using it as your music player, and especially plan to downgrade it.. it is awesome.

Meh, I have mine, they are nothing special. As the above poster pointed out, for games it's next to pointless, the games that are out are decent but heavily over-priced. Sony keeps promising to do some changes to make it's wireless connection better for the end user, but every firmware update only makes it harder to do anything fun with the system.

The wide-screen makes watching videos on it nice, but realistically, if you want a portable media player just get an ipod.
