Another Dilbert Moment

I had another Dilbert moment. Someone called me to make sure I would read an email even though the sender forgot to mark it 'Important.' They also forgot to attach the "important" attachment, but that is a whole other matter.

I soon expect a pointy-haired person to walk in my office with his Etch-A-Sketch/Laptop.

He might be trying to call you right now on his short-range cell phone (you need to be in the same room as the person you're calling), which Asok informed him was a TV remote.

I have a typesetter that follows up EVERY email with a phone call. I told her months ago that she didn't need to call every time she sent me a message, but she still does it. Drives me crazy! After I get a message from her, I know the phone is going to ring, so I only answer it about half the time. (I wouldn't answer at all, but I don't want her to tell my supervisor that I don't answer my phone!)

You GOT to pull her tail! "Message? What message was that? Was it important?" :slappy: Try not to laugh!

All my predecessor's many years' worth of files were well organized - in one folder called "Word Documents" and a second folder called "Excel Documents," with names like "File.doc." :smash:

The first time my boss had me look for a file on his computer when he was gone I almost cried. They were all under one folder and had completely non-descriptive 8 digit titles, even though you could have file names dozens and dozens letters in length.

Before I left my last job, I went back and made sure everything was well labled and in clear, descriptively labeled folders. In a few cases, I named things just to ensure they'd be opened first... like "Here is the interesting crap.xls" and "Look what you got yourself into.ppt." :p

I received a document last week from someone using WP. I commented to my assistant he must be the last man in the known universe using WP. She had forgotten what WP even was.

I had some yayhoo on another message board about a year ago argue that Word Perfect was the de facto business word processing program. I think he got beamed away to planet Moronoid before I could reply...
