Air Purifiers...worth it?

rocketman

flying low
My apartment is really dusty and my allergies have been acting up as of late, and I don't really have allergies...

Are these things worth it? And if so, which one's the best for the price and good for keeping a small room "filtered."

We have 3 here at home...One in the kitchen, living room, bedroom....Not worth it dude....In a nutshell they are just another dust collector...Save your money and spend it on allergy shots....I have really bad allergies as well and none of that over the counter crap works...The shots are the real deal...That is if your not scared of needles....

I take Allegra(sp?). I guess it works.

Medicine is wierd on me. I take Concerta, which is susposed to be because I'm "hyper". On weekends I hardly ever take it. And I can't notice the difference.

I took Allegra as well..Didn't seem to work very well....I guess everyone is different and different pills work for different people, but I never had luck with the pills...I would recommend shots for anyone...

I have one of those Ionic breeze deals at work. It's a lifesaver, because I work near a lot of "gassy" individuals, and it spares me from having to inhale any unwanted tiny fecal particules that may otherwise creep into my work area.

If your having allergy problems, an air filter can make a huge difference!
It's also great for removing smells, burnt food, pet odors, etc.
Yes, the initial cost is a bit high.
But, if you suffer from allergies, you will sleep better and feel better.
See what Home Depot and Lowe's have to offer. Price wise.
Lots of time people suffer with allergies all year round.

(Emphasis added.)

Out of curiosity, which fecal particles, for you, are the wanted ones? :wink2:

The winds in question consist of a mixture of gases such as nitrogen, carbon dioxide, methane, hydrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen sulphide. Hydrogen sulphide is the component which is to blame for the irritating effect on the olfactory organs of one's companions. These gases are produced by bacteria which live in your large intestine and, as a part of digestion, break down food into elementary substances like amino acids, glucose and fatty acids. The bacteria are living in symbiosis with you, and the gases are just by-products of their important work.

I should probably say I don't really have allergy problems...just the usual few weeks in the spring when my nose goes nuts. Even for those 3 or 4 weeks in the spring OTC Claritin or anything similar does the trick.

I've been getting a few more head-colds than normal. Maybe it's just this f'ing Ohio weather changing every other goddamn day. The one thing I do know is our apartment is really dusty. Also the first thing I wanted to do was change the furnace filter with something hypo-allergenic, but after lookin at it for a while I don't think it has a filter!
