Sticky Situation When Truck Carrying Ice Cream Flips

TAMPA, Fla. -- Lanes on a Tampa Bay-area expressway are now open after a semi-truck overturned and spilled 3.5 tons of soft-serve ice cream on the highway.

The spill caused the northbound lanes of the Veteran's Expressway to close Friday morning as a crew scooped up the sticky mess.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the crash took place when the truck changed lanes and collided with a Chevy Malibu.

The truck driver lost control and smashed into a light pole and ramp. The pole fell over the ramp and crashed onto Hillsborough Avenue.

One person was injured and taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
