Two of the country’s top prospects in the next two classes listed Ohio State as one of their top schools Monday.

Ohio State’s 2020 recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the school’s best classes in history. With six of the country’s top recruits already committed to the program in next year’s class, the Buckeyes are sitting among the very best. The 247Sports Class Rankings have the haul sitting at No. 2 nationally and at the top of the Big Ten.

Monday morning, Urban Meyer and the Ohio State coaching staff learned they inched one step closer to earning another commitment from one of the country’s best when wide receiver Demond Demas (Houston, TX / North Forest) listed the team as one of his top schools.

The five-star WR included Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma and Georgia alongside Ohio State in his top five schools moving forward in his recruitment.

Demas has yet to visit Ohio State, which will need to change if the Buckeyes want to remain competitors in the race for his services. He has so far taken visits to hometown schools Texas and Texas A&M, and he found his way to Alabama last spring. Currently, the Longhorns are believed to be the leaders in his recruitment but with so much time left until he has to make a decision, his recruitment is still very much up in the air.

While Ohio State has yet to get him on campus, the Buckeyes still found a way to make his top five schools. This alone speaks volumes about Meyer’s abilities to recruit the very best to play in Columbus. Expect the Buckeyes to get him on campus multiple times in the coming years and if those visits go as expected, Ohio State should only gain momentum in his recruitment.

The 247Sports Composite Rankings have Demas listed as the No. 3 WR in the country and the No. 19 overall recruit in his class, despite position.

Elite ATH lists Ohio State in top 7

While Ohio State has been able to get off to an incredible start in its 2020 recruiting class, the coaching staff remains focused on closing out this years class as strong as possible.

The Buckeyes currently hold 15 verbal commitment from some of the country’s top prospects. The program sits at No. 7 nationally and holds the title for the top class in the Big Ten as of right now. However, the Buckeyes are still looking to add more talented athletes to this years group.

The coaching staff’s hard work appears to be paying off as one of the country’s best athletes, Devonta Lee (Amite, LA / Amite), listed Ohio State as one of his top seven schools Monday afternoon.

Alongside Ohio State, Lee listed Texas, Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama, LSU and Ole Miss.

Being that Lee currently resides in Louisiana, he has yet to make a trip to Columbus to see what all the school has to offer on and off the field. However, like with the aforementioned Demas, Ohio State once again was able to make the cut for an elite recruit despite not being able to fully show the hand.

While listed as an athlete, Lee is likely being recruited by the Buckeyes as a WR. Ohio State has already earned a commitment from one elite WR in this year’s class in five-star Garrett Wilson and leads for multiple others. However, with the expected loss at the position following this coming season, the Buckeyes are looking to stockpile at the position.

Look for the Buckeyes to get him on campus in the coming months if they are serious about adding him to this year’s class.
