After shining on the field which future Buckeye gets your vote?
Big time players usually step up in big time games. Ohio State class of 2017 verbal commitment Todd Sibley definitely did that and more in Akron Archbishop Hoban's Division III Regional Semifinal win over Louisville last Friday. Rushing for nearly 300 yards, and what ended up being the Knights game winning touchdown, the four-star standout didn't just shine in the 21-14 victory, he was also named the Land-Grant Holy Land MVP of the week after picking up 63% of the votes.
Sibley and some of the other soon-to-be Buckeyes were back at it over the weekend. Which OSU pledge did enough to walk away with your MVP pick this go around? The poll is open. You know what to do. Let your voice be heard and vote.
Here are your five nominees:
Todd Sibley
Sibley might not have put up the numbers he did last weekend, but the class of 2017 pledge was still a factor in the outcome of Hoban's Regional Final match up against Akron St. Vincent St. Mary. In a game where every inch mattered, Todd carried the ball 22 times for 58 yards and a touchdown.
After squeaking past the Irish 24-21, Hoban's state title dreams are still alive. Next week Sibley, fellow OSU commit Danny Clark and the Knights will reportedly mix it up with Zanesville for a chance to play for the Division III championship.
Wayne Davis
Nearly every week it seems like a future Buckeye stacks the stat sheet. On Friday it was Wayne Davis' turn. Helping keep his Lake Taylor (VA) squad undefeated (12-0) with a 52-39 win over King's Fork, the four-star defensive back came up huge on both sides of the ball for the Titans.
Lining up in the secondary, Davis hopped in front of a King's Fork pass and raced to the endzone for a Lake Taylor score. His pick six wouldn't be his only trip to pay dirt. As a wide receiver on offense he showed off his athletic ability, hauling in eight receptions for 197 yards and four touchdowns through the air.
Tristen Wallace
Wallace and DeSoto's (TX) evening didn't go as planned on Friday. Taking on an undefeated Allen High team, DeSoto battled till the end, but came up on the short end up stick, falling 41-40 in a heartbreaking season ending loss.
Giving it his all in what ended up being his final game in a DeSoto uniform, Wallace showed why many consider him one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the class of 2016. Accounting for 329 of DeSoto's 394 total yards, Tristen completed 8 of his 25 passing attempts for 168 and two touchdowns, while also being threat on the ground, carrying the ball 26 times for 161 yards and two more Eagle scores.
Jake Moretti
On Friday Moretti and the rest of the big guys on the offensive line mauled Pomona to the next round of the Colorado state playoffs. Opening holes all night for the Pomona rushing attack, junior running back Cameron Gonzales was the key beneficiary of Moretti and the offensive lines effort against top seeded Grandview. Running behind Moretti and others, Gonzales rushed for over 220 yards and four touchdowns in the Panthers 32-21 win over the Wolves.
Drue Chrisman
Cincinnati LaSalle made easy work out of Kings on Friday. In a game that got out of hand rather early, the Lancers rolled past the Knights, 42-7. While Chrisman might not have scored the touchdowns, the punter did get his name in the stat book by knocking down six extra points as a placekicker for LaSalle.
