Would it have been a wash in terms of time (assuming a win) of going to the B10 championship? One more game before the playoffs but then get a bye. Same number of games. The rest period just shifted by a week.

I've said that ever since the B1G did away with divisions that they would move The Game to earlier in the season.
Right now we have the possibility of the two teams playing two weeks in a row ( regular season and B1G Championship) and an outside chance of a third meeting in the CFP. ( unlikely but possible). I don't think ANYBODY wants to see that.

Shit, it could have happened back in Legends and Leaders days if tsun didn’t suck so bad.

We win all three, I'd love to see it. But the stress leading up to it might not be worth. I'd rather be the third loss that puts them out of the playoff every year.

I felt good about the way 2004 ended even though the season would be considered a failure by any normal OSU standard.

Trying to act like missing the playoffs is totally fine and you didn't want to be there anyway is peak DFBIA.

Going forward, I can see where this new format isn't going to be the death knell to the regular season like I once thought it would. We (all CFB fans) are going to have to come to grips with the idea that your team is rarely going to run the table in the expanded playoffs. That being the case, you need to actually enjoy the process of the regular season more even though the games mean less.

Ohio State had the parts there that it was obvious they were going to be much better in 2005 though.

scUM has the parts going into 2025 that have it looking like 8-5 again would be a relative success. They can be satisfied with how 2024 ended, but they are looking forward to another 4-5 loss season next year most likely.

Agreed, it took one of the most talented defenses of all time and expanded playoff for OSU to get over the hump. Knowles will not have that talent at PSU

Comments like this crack me up. It took scUM damn near 30 years, 2 different format changes, plus a cheating scandal to "finally get over the hump"

Also the logic that it's easier to win the title when you have to win 3 or 4 games in a playoff instead of 2 is laughable.
