Brenton Cox was just one of the Buckeye commits to rise up the ranks in the latest batch of recruiting updates.

Ohio State is looking to take home the recruiting national championship for the class of 2018. With Alabama sitting as the reigning champs, the Buckeyes have been making some noise with the current haul of commits they have in this upcoming class. Yesterday, those chances of taking the coveted No. 1 spot improved as they saw a commit jump way up in the national rankings.

The new Rivals100 rankings came out for the class of 2018 on Tuesday and Ohio State commit Brenton Cox made the biggest jump as he soared to the No. 32 ranked player in the country. He is just outside of five-star range according to Rivals.com. At this point, Cox is one of the highest rated commits for the Buckeyes. Joining the likes of Taron Vincent, Emory Jones and Brian Snead, the Bucks have a handful of commits from the top 40 (!) on the Rivals100 rankings.

Looking over at what the 247sports rankings show, and it’s a similar story: Cox is one of the top guys in the 2018 class. 247sports has the Stockbridge, Ga. native as the second highest Buckeye commit in the class.

The defensive end prospect has continued to speak highly of Ohio State since giving his commitment to them at the end of April.

Another mover in the Rivals100 was Jaiden Woodbey, who saw his stock rise from No. 61 to No. 51. There were a few players that slid in the new update, but nothing that was considered big news.

Traveling to the Lone Star State

According to reports, multiple members from the Ohio State coaching staff will be traveling to Texas to visit with 2020 prospect Lejond Cavazos. This visit is currently planned to take place on June 8. Cavazos is a safety prospect who already holds 12 offers as a freshman. He will be considered one of the best players in the country when his senior year rolls around. Cavazos visited Ohio State in April for the spring game and reports indicate that the Buckeyes are at, or near the top of his list. The Buckeyes have put themselves in a great position early in this recruitment.
