he's been here hanging out for quite awhile now......
I'm just flat out ready for a new approach to offense. It's as simple as that. I know we are hampered by suspensions and inexperience but last night was more than that. That Miami team was not good. They are average at best. I'm sick of relying on our defense to keep us in games or even win the games for us. You don't always have to have the most talent. Every week we see a lot less talented teams across the nation do a lot more with their offenses. I'm not basing everything on last night. This has been a problem for quite some time now but combined with all the other circumstances going on....well just rewatch last night's game if you can stomach it.

Setting aside the Akron game because some high schools in Columbus could beat the Zips, let's look at the last two weeks.
offensive points: 26 (3.25/qtr)
3rd down conversions: 7/24 (29%)
rushing: 71 carries, 286 yards (4 yds/carry)
passing: 22 of 48 (46%), 224 yards (4.67 yards/attempt)
---Bauserman 18 of 44 (41%), 1 TD, 0 INTs
---Miller 2 of 4 (50%), 0 TDs, 1 INT
time of possession: 56 minutes (opponents - 64)
Total plays per QB:
---Bauserman 91 (83.5%)
---Miller 18 (16.5%)
First off, it goes way beyond who is playing quarterback. I have been outspoken in wanting Miller to play but by no means is all of this ineptitude Joe Bauserman's fault. That said he is certainly part of it, as well as youth at WR, but the biggest issue is what TJ referenced - the approach.
What, exactly, are we trying to accomplish on offense? We seem to be in a struggle to decide if we're a traditional I-formation offense or a modern day spread. We aren't committed to either. As TJ noted, I see lots of football teams with lesser talent look more polished on offense. Something is amiss, has been for awhile, and is really getting exposed this season without the athletes of the past to mask the inefficiencies.
If we don't improve it is going to be a LONG season. There are bigger boys on our schedule than Toledo and Miami. Something has to change SOON.

I'd honestly like to see us go back to the Power-I mixed in with a little Wildcat here and there. We've never really looked good running out of the Shotgun spread imo.

Some of you forget this offense was built around Terrelle Pryor. Everyone thought he was coming back after week 5. He left, leaving us a guy who simply is not the answer, and a true freshmen not ready to operate said offense.
Tress was THE mastermind. With him and TP gone, people should have expected a bumpy start on offense.

I really think TP was the engine that made our offense go. This is not an offensive coaching staff that has proven much other than that they typically fall somewhere between 50 and 80 out of 110 or so ncaa teams. Last year and 2006 were our solid offensive years out of the last 10. 2 out of 10 years is not a good track record to show that you are a great or even good offensive coaching staff. Now we see that we have not had a guy prepared to play backup Qb. Seems that JT was doing more with the offense than I thought.....and much more with the qb`s than I thought. Go Bucks

When you have a "super star"(TP,Beanie, Troy)) it's easier to taylor the offense around that guy than try to put multiple pieces together for an "indentity". Brewster says we're a "power" team, so maybe that's what the coaches want for an "indentity". That would seem to fit the current players. At least, when we have healthy running backs.
