    • The Buckeyes are coming off an impressive 3 game sweep of UConn, Notre Dame and UC in the Big 10 - Big East Challenge in the Tampa area. Next up is the University of North Florida's Kennel Club Classic in Jacksonville. The Buckeyes will be playing UNF 2 times sandwiched around a matchup with George Mason University.

    University of North Florida Ospreys The Ospreys split their 4 game opener with Mississippi State to stand at 2-2 on the season. They play Michigan on Wednesday before taking on the Buckeyes at 7:00 PM Friday and Sunday.

    George Mason University The Patriots were picked to win the Colonial Athletic Association Championship by Southeastern Baseball magazine. GMU takes on the Buckeyes Saturday at 3:00 PM. They are 4-0 on the season with wins over USCar-Upstate, UNC-Asheville and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville

    COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State hits the road Thursday afternoon for the second of five Florida trips to open the season. This weekend Ohio State competes Friday through Sunday at the University of North Florida’s (UNF) Kennel Club Classic.


    Ohio State will play host North Florida twice - at 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday nights - with games against George Mason at 3 p.m. Saturday and Connecticut at 11 a.m. Sunday. All four games will be at Harmon Stadium on the campus of UNF. Visit unfospreys.com for stadium location and everything Osprey.

    A LOOK AT THE OSPREYS
    Ohio State’s first road games of the season will come against North Florida. The two teams have played eight times with Ohio State winning six, including two in Columbus in 2007. The Ospreys led Mississippi State, 7-5, going into the B9 Sunday before losing 9-7. CF Brian Wilson leads with a .444 avg. with 1B Ryan Puskar hitting .357 with nine RBI. The staff ERA is 5.24. John Atteo went the distance in a 9-3 win over Northern Illinois.

    FIRST OF SIX FIRSTS! OSU vs. GMU
    George Mason is the first of six teams Ohio State will be playing for the first time in baseball. The others: Hartford, UMBC, North Dakota State, Rhode Island and SIU Edwardsville. The GMU Patriots are 4-0 after an 8-7 win over SIU-E Sunday. This marks the third time in school history the team has started 4-0. The Patriots are hitting .333 as a team led by IF Ryan Soares (.500) and C/OF Chris Henderson (.474). The staff sports a 2.25 ERA with 21 Ks and 10 BBs.

    OHIO STATE vs. UCONN
    Ohio State and UConn have met seven times previously and Sunday will be the second meeting in eight days. Ohio State won, 6-4, last week in Clearwater behind the pitching of Andrew Armstrong and big hits from Zach Hurley (three-run triple) and Brian DeLucia (two-run double). The Bucks lead the series, 5-2. RHP Dan Mahoney is ranked by Baseball America as the seventh-best prospect for the 2009 MLB Draft in the BIG EAST. RF Matt Burnett and SS Mike Olt are hitting .462 and .455, respectively.

    Damn, 4-0. Sweet.

    Excellent offensive production today. The pitching seemed a bit shaky though, it is very early in the year. Another weekend sweep to start the season would be phenomenal.

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - No. 30 Ohio State improved to 4-0 with an 11-6 win over North Florida Friday at Harmon Stadium on the campus of UNF. Dan Burkhart had four hits and four RBI and Ryan Dew had three RBI to lead the offensive charge.
    Six errors by North Florida and a host of oddities turned the game into a strange affair.
    Ohio State scored its first, first-inning runs of the season by tallying two runs off two hits, two errors, a wild pitch and a past ball. Burkhart had a two-RBI single to drive home Ohio State's runs.

    Ohio State takes game 1 of the DH 11-5 over George Mason to go to 5-0 on the season

    Alex Wimmers picked up the win going 5.2 innings allowing 8 hits 2 runs (1 earned) walking 3 and striking out 8

    Eric Best picked up a save going 3.1 innings allowing 4 hits 3 runs and striking out 2

    Ohio State hangs on to win 10-8 over North Florida in the second game of the DH to go to 6-0

    North Florida had a 5 run 6th to get them back into it after being down 9-3

    they loaded the bases with 1 out in the 8th but Jake Hale was able to get out of it without allowing any runs

    in the 9th they got 2 on with no outs but Hale was able to get out of the inning without allowing any runs once again

    North Florida hit 3 Home Runs in the game
