2009 Aussie Open - Men

I think Del Potro is the dark horse

Federer took him out 6-3, 6-0, 6-0. Roger had looked shaky in the previous round, dropping the first 2 sets before coming back to defeat Berdych.

Federer will face Roddick in the semis. Roddick looked very good taking out Djokovic last night. Djokovic won the first set in a tiebreak, and then he tired in the heat while Roddick came on. The on-court temperature exceeded 140 degrees, and they didn't close the roof. Roddick took the 2nd and 3rd sets 6-4, 6-2. After getting broken at love to fall behind 2-1 in the 4th set, Djokovic quit.

I'd really like to see Roddick pull this one out. Maybe this is his year to do something?
If Djokovic was in shape and prepared, he would have won this match. Roddick lost 15 pounds during the off season for matches like the one against Novak. Hopefully Federer makes it 16-2 against Andy.

I didn't see this thread before the open started, but I'm kind of shocked more people didn't wager on Nadal.

Actually Nadal has struggled on hard courts in the majors (USopen and Aussie open), His only major championships were on clay and grass. He is still rusty as evidenced in his quarter final loss at qatar.
He identified Murray as the favorite for this major.
Truthfully, the world's #1 is not a good bet for dohwn unduh.
Some idiot didn't do his research before putting vcoin on Nadal however.

when can we have someone other than nadal or fed in the semis and the finals? It's ridiculous how far ahead these guys are to everyone else.

When the rest of the world wants to send quality competition to these events. And they do.

That's what makes Nadal and Fed incredible. That's why it was such a huge deal when James Blake actually beat Fed in the Olympics.

And I'm still surprised at the improvement of Nadal, he really separated himself of the last year or two from the rest of the world to get to Fed's level. Great players.

daaang, looks like i missed one of the best matches if not the best match of the tournament so far. 5 hr and 20 minute match between Nadal and Verdasco. I was able to see some of one of the sets, and it was just absurd tennis.
