The fish weren't biting, but Russell landed a free-agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday evening after going undrafted. The Steelers did not announce their free-agent signings, but Russell's agent, Alonzo Shavers, confirmed the deal.

The Broncos will have at least one more rookie from national champion Florida in camp this year. The team is expected to sign defensive tackle Steven Harris as an undrafted free agent. Harris will join draft picks Jarvis Moss and Thomas.
Harris was a key backup for the Gators. The Broncos are expected to announce about five undrafted free- agent signings as soon as today.

Other Hawkeye seniors, including three-year starting quarterback Drew Tate and a pair of former safeties, went undrafted and awaited rookie free-agent signings.
Tate signed a free-agent contract with the St. Louis Rams. Ex-Hawkeye Marcus Paschal inked with the Philadelphia Eagles and could team up with former Hawkeye Sean Considine in the secondary.
Along with the trio of former Hawkeyes, Iowa senior Miguel Merrick will join Chandler in San Diego, which has three safeties on its roster with two rookies entering camp.
"It's a great opportunity," Merrick said. "I have a chance to go there and earn a spot."
