Everybody is somebody else's weirdo.
A competion where the US used to hold the longest consecutive win streak of any sport has just concluded; and not too many in the US even knew about it and/or even cared.

Alinghi become only the third yacht after the U.S. and New Zealand to retain the 156-year-old America's Cup.

VALENCIA, Spain -- Alinghi won the 32nd America's Cup on Tuesday, beating Team New Zealand by one second in a thrilling seventh race to take the series 5-2.

The Swiss syndicate become the first European team to defend the Cup, their crew cheering with relief having almost lost the race when their spinnaker pole snapped off the mast.

Anyone following the America's Cup this year? Me neither. However, besides the boats looking different, and after a major comeback (USA was down 8-1); I think the last and final race (winner take all) is today.

The America’s Cup has produced no shortage of strange scenes in its 162 years. There have been capsizings, shattered masts and shattered spirits, but it has never produced a reversal of fortune quite like this year.

A week ago, the defender of the trophy, Oracle Team USA, bankrolled by the American billionaire Larry Ellison, trailed by eight races to one and was just one defeat from losing the most prestigious prize in yachting to the challenger, Emirates Team New Zealand.
But by winning seven races in succession, including two on Tuesday, Oracle has tied the series at 8-8. Winds permitting, the rivals from different hemispheres will contest one final race Wednesday, winner take all.
