2006 All-Star Game Ballot: Who ya got?

sears3820

Sitting around in my underwear....
The starting lineups will be revealed tomorrow on the Major League Baseball All-Star Game Selection Show presented by Chevrolet, to be aired live on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET.

What's your starting lineup and 32-man roster look like? Try and represent every team with at least one All-Star selection. I don't envy Ozzie Guillen or Phil Garner. It's tough leaving some very deserving players off the list.

NOTE: I tried like hell to put someone from Kansas City on the AL squad, but couldn't do it.

your NL looks good, but I disagree with your AL. Hafner should be omitted for Morneau, Contreras should be the AL starter, Kenny Rogers should be in over Buerhle. No way the Tigers should only have one player on the AL team, Ordonez, Pudge or one of the pitchers (Zumaya, Rodney, Robertson, Bonderman) should be on there along with Verlander.

It could have went wither way with Buehrle and Rogers. I gave the slight edge to Buerhle because his ERA was 0.50 lower. It was a tough call.

Hafner gets in over Morneau based on scoring 20 more runs than Morneau and having a significantly higher BA, OPS, OBP, & SLG. That was a pretty easy pick.

As far as the starter goes, Santana toes the rubber because he leads the AL in Ks and ERA. Contreras' ERA is nearly a full run higher than Santana's. Santana's WHIP & BAA are also better. Not to say Contreras isn't deserving, I just don't see it over Santana.

As for the other Tigers I omitted, I couldn't come up with enough of an argument for them to bump someone from my list.

Rodney and Zumaya have been great in their setup roles, I just can't for the life of me include these guys on an all-star squad. Mike Timlin gets the nod over either of those guys if I had.

You could easily make an all-star team out of just the Tigers, White Sox, & Red Sox and feel like every guy on that deserved to be there.

They need to expand the rosters!!!!

It's a crock of shit too that Kansas City has to have a guy on the squad.

Mark Redman being selected meant that guys like Curt Schilling, Mike Mussina, Jeremey Bonderman, and Justin Verlander (who deserved to be there), got snubbed.

The MLB all star has always been a joke. It's a farce that this game actually decides something "real" down the line. How can you get away with the little leagueish rule that every team must be represented?

Just do the Home Run Derby and call it a day.

The best moment from all-star game history, the 2002 game ending in a tie.

All of a sudden we're fucking soccer or hockey? Good call Bud.

Ugh.. things like this make me sick, too. Mark Redman doesn't deserve to be there. I mean, I don't follow baseball well enough to know how good the guy is. Or even well enough to know how good those other four guys are. But one guy taking the place of four other players? That's absolutely ubsurd.

Relax. For as many people whining about the selections, there are that many people whining that the all-star game is boring and meaningless. So it all evens out in the end.
