Which future Buckeye did enough on the field to grab your vote this week?
For two straight weeks future Buckeye WR Austin Mack has walked away with the Land-Grant Holy Land MVP of the week award. After coming up with well over 200 total yards and three touchdowns in a victory Fort Wayne Bishop Luers win against Yorktown last Friday, Mack ran away with 51% of your votes to once again bring home the award.
Mack, and most of the Buckeye pledges were back at it this weekend. With their eyes set on a state title, many of the Ohio State verbal commitments shined under the lights. Which prospect did enough to grab your vote this week? The poll is open. Let your voice be heard.
Here are your five nominees for this week:
Tristen Wallace
Wallace, and his DeSoto (TX) squad ended the regular season on a high note. In Thursday's match up against Duncanville, the future Buckeye quarterback was a key part why DeSoto picked up the 16-14 win.
Through the air, Wallace, a 2016 pledge, went 6 for 12, and completed a 53 yard passing touchdown on DeSoto's first drive of the game. Doing must of his damage with his legs, the dual-threat quarterback carried the ball 17 times on the night, finishing with 105 yards and a touchdown.
Todd Sibley
After falling to Cleveland Benedictine last weekend, Akron Archbishop Hoban rolled to their 10th victory of the season on Friday. In the opening round of the state playoffs, Sibley, and crew muscled out a 35-21 win over New Philadelphia to keep their championship dreams alive.
Leaving where he has left off the last few weeks, Sibley once again put up some rather impressive numbers. On Friday the class of 2017 running back carried the ball 35 times for 201 yards and punched in three touchdowns on the ground, including a score from 42 yards out to help Hoban past New Philadelphia.
Danny Clark
While Sibley was the workhorse for Hoban, Clark sure didn't disappoint either. The 2017 signal caller might not have put up eye popping numbers like his teammate, but he definitely played a major role in the Knights first round victory.
Clark, a four-star prospect, completed 14 of his 20 passing attempts for 213 yards and two touchdowns. With the win under their belt, Clark, Sibley and Hoban will take on Louisville in the Division III regional semi-final next week.
Gavin Cupp
The Leipsic offensive line came up huge in Friday's 35-3 win over Arlington. Anchored by the OSU pledge Cupp, the big boys up front dominated the Arlington defense all evening, leading the Vikings offense to well over 350 yards of total offense.
Seeing time on the defensive line, the former Michigan State pledge was also a factor. Cupp, and the Leipsic defense held the Arlington offense to under 100 total yards, and just seven first downs for the ball game.
Back in action next Friday, Cupp, and his Viking teammates will mix it up with the top seeded McComb.
Luke Farrell
Farrell, and Perry's night didn't go as planned on Saturday. In a battle from the get go against Holy Name, the Pirates came up on the short end of the stick, falling to the Green Wave, 50-43.
After missing last week with a back injury, Farrell put the pain behind him in hopes of making a deep run in the state playoffs with his teammates. While his high school career might be over, the standout tight end showed glimpses of why he's considered a top 2016 recruit, hauling in four receptions for 57 yards on the night.
