Who did enough to grab your vote this week?
Future Buckeye defensive back Wayne Davis has came up big for Lake Taylor (VA) all season long. Stacking the stat sheet nearly every week, Davis finally received a little respect for his play on the field. Coming up big on both side of the ball last Friday against King's Fork, the four-star prospect was named the Land-Grant Holy Land MVP of week after accounting for nearly 200 yards receiving and five total touchdowns in the 52-39 win.
Davis and a few of his soon-to-be OSU teammates were back in action over the weekend. Which Ohio State verbal pledge did enough to walk away with your MVP pick this week? The poll is open. Let your voice be hard and vote.
Here are your five nominees:
Wayne Davis
Just like last week, Davis was a standout for the undefeated Lake Taylor Titans on Friday evening. Coming out strong against Hanover and never looking back, Lake Taylor rolled to a 37-22 win to advance to the 4A South Region Finals for the second consecutive season.
Playing both ways, Davis finished with numerous tackles, but did most did most of his damage on offense. In the first half, the senior hauled in a two point conversion, and wasn't done there. In his play of the night Wayne took a reverse, dodged tacklers and raced down the sidelines for a 33 yard touchdown run.
Drue Chrisman
Chrisman might be heading to Columbus to punt for the Buckeyes, but he came up big as a placekicker for Cincinnati LaSalle on Friday. In a game where LaSalle only punted twice, Chrisman still effected the final score. Although he missed a field goal attempt, Drue knocked in seven extra points in LaSalle's 49-28 come from behind win over Perrysburg.
With the win, Chrisman and LaSalle's title dreams are still alive. Next Friday the Lancers will take on Massillon Perry in the Division II state championship.
Todd Sibley
On Friday, the OSU class of 2017 pledge put his Akron Archbishop Hoban squad on his back. Using a pair of second half scores by Sibley, Hoban closed the door on Zanesville to advance to their first state championship game in school history.
Sibley carried the ball 25 times, finishing with 181 yards and two touchdowns, which included a 81 yard run in the third quarter.
Danny Clark
Even though he didn't put up the numbers of Sibley, Clark still played a key part in Hoban's victory. Playing in the rain, the 2017 quarterback completed nine of his passing attempts, accounting for 151 yards.
On Thursday night, Clark, Sibley and Hoban will mix it up with reigning Division III champion Toledo Central Catholic under the lights of Ohio Stadium.
Shaun Wade
In Florida's Class 3A state semifinal, Wade, and Trinity Christian dominated class of 2016 wr Nate Craig-Myers and Tampa Catholic. In Trinity's 47-14 route, Wade might have walked away with the play of the night. Lining up in the secondary, the 2017 pledge hopped in front of a Tampa Catholic pass and made an incredible one handed grab to get fans in attendance on their feet.
