DE Jordan Washington talks about Ohio State football offer
October 5, 2011, by Michael Carvell

Ohio State has had a lot of success recruiting the Atlanta suburb of Suwanee.

Cameron Heyward, the first-round pick by the NFL?s Pittsburgh Steelers, and defensive back Bradley Roby, who has started every game this year for Ohio State, were two Buckeye recruiting targets from Suwanee. They both played at Peachtree Ridge High School. (Roby had 4 tackles, 1 interception and 2 pass defended vs. Michigan State last week)

Ohio State is pursing another Georgia talent in Jordan Washington, a 6-foot-3 and 260-pound defensive end from nearby North Gwinnett High School.

Washington got a verbal offer from Ohio State last week, and has the Buckeyes and Mississippi State as his two finalists out of 17 scholarship offers, which also included Kentucky, Ole Miss, South Florida and Maryland.

Washington plans to make unofficial visits to Ohio State and Mississippi State this month, and will announce his college decision sometime in November.

?Ohio State called me out of the blue, and I didn?t take it serious at first because it?s so late in the recruiting process,? Washington told the AJC. ?They [Ohio State] explained all the things they had been going through over the last year, saying they haven?t been as focused as they usually are on recruiting. But now they were, and they wanted me.?

What was Ohio State?s salespitch? ?They said I remind them a lot of Cameron Heyward,? Washington said. ?He?s from Suwanee, too, but a different high school. They liked my film and say I?m a very physical player.?

Jordan Washington commits to Miss State

by Aaron on Oct.20, 2011, under News
North Gwinnet (GA) defensive tackle Jordan Washington has committed to Mississippi State. Washington along with several teammates camped at UK this summer. UK had offered, but it appears the Cats were never really a serious option. Ohio State had offered at one point as well.

Interesting. I think this bodes well for us landing Washington and Pittman IMHO.
