BN $ - Florida TE Enjoys OSU Experience

11/16

By BK...more praise about his first visit to OSU...says his favorites are Ohio State, Oregon, South Carolina, Miami and Notre Dame.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the offer on the table to Taylor McNamara...OSU has serious interest from two '12 TEs, one of which is in CA and the other is in FL...not to mention the fact OSU is taking two TEs this year.

Gators offense shows promise as Weatherford era ends

That's because junior Ryan Bird, starting in place of Weatherford, completed 15-of-27 passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns. Corcoran placed the fate of the Gators offense in Bird's hands, and teaming with the receiving trio of Will Irwin (four catches, 85 yards, two touchdowns), Kent Taylor (four catches, 72 yards) and Jason Tello (five catches, 39 yards), he responded by producing 19 points, the third-highest total Jefferson had allowed all year.

Here with Land O Lakes (Fla.) tight end Kent Taylor. THe 6-5, 210-pound Taylor has blown up with offers from Oregon NC State, Kentucky, Purdue, Florida Atlantic and Cincinnati.

"I like a good coach, and a school known for academics. A school like Stanford I would be real interested in.

Taylor grew up a big Penn State fan, but has had no contact with the Nittany Lions thus far. He expects to take in a camp this summer. He has a lot of family in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Taylor's dad went to Northwestern and he is looking to take a trip to Evanston in the near future. He is also working on a trip to Oregon.

Taylor is a big baseball fan and plays right field and first base for his school. Even if college baseball and/or draft opportunities come up, hbe will go to college and focus on football. As a junior he recorded 36 catches for 636 yards and ten touchdowns.

Recruiting: Land O'Lakes' Kent Taylor scales lists at tight end - St. Petersburg Times

By John C. Cotey, Times Staff Writer
In Print: Sunday, January 16, 2011

At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, Land O'Lakes TE Kent Taylor is a pretty hard guy to miss. And many did, if they weren't looking closely the past two seasons.

Though he toiled somewhat in anonymity, Taylor hasn't escaped the notice of colleges, as he has developed into one of Tampa Bay's top recruits for 2012.

Already, Taylor has offers from Oregon, Purdue, Kentucky, North Carolina State and Cincinnati, to name a few, and his recent performance at the U.S. Army All-American Combine is sure to net him many more.

He will visit Florida on Feb. 12 for a junior day, and word is an offer from the Gators could be forthcoming.

At the combine, Taylor was named one of the top offensive performers, according to former Land O'Lakes coach Matt Kitchie.

"He's a special talent," Kitchie said. "He's been blessed with a large body and a tremendous amount of athleticism for his size. What makes him a little different is he has an ability to block and takes great pride in it."

As a sophomore, Taylor only caught seven passes, but four were for touchdowns.

Last year, on a team where Jason Tello and Will Irwin combined for more than 100 catches, almost 2,000 yards and 23 touchdowns, Taylor made an impact. He had 35 catches for 571 yards and scored nine touchdowns, with a scoring catch in eight of the 10 games he played in.

Land O'Lakes tight end Kent Taylor isn't so much under the radar after a junior year in which he scored nine TDs.

Rivals $ - Junior Film

I know OSU has two TEs in this class and has offered Taylor McNamara but I would have no problem taking this kid in a heartbeat. Great speed in a 6-5 frame...probably will remind some people of Stoney's HS film. Looks like he could be a WR/TE hybrid his senior year and depending on what his frame can handle could be a WR or TE at the next level.

HomeTeam | FSU offers Land O'Lakes Kent Taylor

Sat. January 29, 2011 | John C. Cotey | Email

Land O'Lakes tight end Kent Taylor picked up an offer today from Florida State at the school's junior day in Tallahassee, said his former high school coach and new Hillsborough High offensive coordinator Matt Kitchie via text.

Taylor, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound pass catcher who takes great pride in his blocking -- his dad Rob Taylor was a former Buc offensive lineman -- is one of Tampa Bay's top recruits in the 2012 class.

He already has offers from Oregon, Purdue, Kentucky, North Carolina State and Cincinnati, and was recently named one of the outstanding performers at the U.S. Army All-American Combine.

Last year Taylor had 35 catches for 571 yards and scored nine touchdowns. He caught a touchdown pass in eight of the 10 games he played in.

Rivals $ - TE Taylor has LSU offer

2/23

From the LSU site...talks about how surprised he was to get the LSU offer...talks about trying to remain level-headed throughout the process...now at 6-5 208...being compared to Greg Olsen.

No idea why OSU hasn't offered...the kid took a visit here unofficially back in November and has offers from everyone...FSU seems to be in the driver's seat now...

After spending a few weeks visiting many of the campuses around Florida, tight end Kent Taylor (Land O'Lakes, Fla./Land O'Lakes) made his way out to a practice with his Tampa, Fla., based team for the upcoming Badger Sports 7-on-7 tournament.

And right away the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder put on an impressive display of route running and pass catching.

"I know I'm just getting out here but I wasn't hiding man, after all, I've got 23 offers," Taylor joked.

His current top group includes Alabama, LSU, Florida, Florida State and Miami. The three in-state powers offered Taylor when he made on-campus visits for their respective junior days.

South Florida Express players impress - ESPN

The 2012 tight end class has not yet proved to be overly strong compared to some past classes, but we were looking forward to seeing Watch List TE Kent Taylor (Land O'Lakes, Fla./Land O'Lakes). Taylor possesses good height, but a lean build. He will need to add some significant bulk, though his frame might limit how much good size he can add. He is a physical player and, as we saw on film, he displayed good hands. He was competitive as a route runner, but displayed just solid speed and an adequate ability to win in transition. He came across as more of a short-to-intermediate target.
