Scout $ - Florida Big Man Not Focused On Decision

6/14

From the Duke site...claims offers from Florida, Florida St, Missouri, West Virginia, Ohio State, Miami (Fla) and Louisville and interest from Texas, Duke and UNC.

James had two football offers
James has never played football. However, that didn't stop Oklahoma and Georgia from offering him scholarships for the sport sight unseen. The big fella isn't interested but he does own scholarships on the hardwood from Florida, Florida State, West Virginia, UNC and Ohio State. He's going to need visits because he's only seen the Gators campus.

Video: Joel James talks recruiting, including Louisville
Posted on June 17, 2011 by Jody Demling

Palm Springs, Fla., big man Joel James has five schools he favors in the recruiting process, but others that he’s looking at including Louisville.

The Cardinals are trying to get into the mix with the 6-foot-10, 280-pound prospect in the Class of 2012. He talks about his game and the recruiting process in this video.

I will have more on James, his game and the schools that he’s focused on right now in the next few days.

He plays AAU ball for the Florida Rams, which has produced several Louisville prospects in the past so he’s one we will watch for the rest of the summer.

Here?s a sneak preview of some prospects who will draw the attention of Matta and his assistants this month:

Joel James
Height, Weight: 6-10, 260
Position: Center
School: Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dwyer
ESPN Ranking: 10th among Cs, 36th overall in class of 2012
Considering: Duke, Florida, Georgetown, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio State
Camp This Week: adidas Invitational
Outlook: James is an elite prospect but also falls into the traps of many young post men in that he sometimes fouls too much, still needs to develop his footwork and isn?t quite ready for major minutes physically. Still, that will come, and it?s not hard to become intrigued with his rebounding prowess and occasional nasty streak. Plus, James can score down low and runs the floor very well for a kid his size. He?s the kind of rising star that every team in the country would like to have in wait for its front line.
