Dryden;2337657; said:See the YouTube embed I posted above. The source is Narcissistic Cannibal by Korn (Skrillex dubstep mix). With this highlight video however, they didn't use an album track, they used the master submix files (known as stems).
The original stems for this track were freely published as part of a contest awhile back where entrants could win the chance to be the opening DJ at a Korn concert. The stems were taken down after the contest ended and are now purchaseable through Korns Web site. If you're savvy with a torrent app and google-fu, you can find them for free still.
A lot of industrial/techno/dubstep artists are publishing their stems. Some for low cost, some for no cost. Check http://www.ninremixes.com/multitracks.php for NIN packs from the last two albums. All free.
It's really cool that bands are doing this stuff, as it allows A/V editors and musicians the opportunity to drop individual tracks from something approaching a master recording, so if you want to karaoke, play guitar, drum, whatever ... you can do it. And of course, you can mix highlight shorts and easily remove or mute only lyrics without distorting the instrumentation, and can rearrange that hook or chorus to time your videos and trim the song to the exact length you need.
