Martin has offers from LSU, Mississippi State, Louisville, Duke, Maryland, Minnesota, Cincinnati, and UCLA, and is hoping for offers from Clemson, South Carolina, and Ohio State. If the Buckeyes offer, then Pat would like to take an official visit to Ohio State.

Passes the look test ... but the Buckeyes are in on several top safety prospects this year. A player to watch if one of the "Plan A" targets (Tanner, Cash, Lyons) fall through.

UT now leads for Martin

By Eric Guimaraes
DB Pat Martin (6-0 192) of JL Mann visited Tennessee this weekend and they now lead for his services. "Tennessee sells itself," said Martin, "but the coaches did a really good job of letting me know how I would fit in." Martin says after Tennessee, USC, North Carolina, and LSU are even. "Tennessee is my wife," he said, "and the others are my girlfriends." He had planned to visit LSU in July but has changed his mind. "I think I'll go back to Tennessee twice in July," he said. He also has decided to go to USC's showcase camp on July 23. Martin said he talks regularly with USC recruiter Shawn Elliott, and in fact he exchanged e-mails with him o n Sunday. His offers are from USC, Tennessee, LSU, UCLA, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Maryland, Minnesota, Cincinnati, and Louisville. Martin plans to make his decision later this summer before school starts.

Martin makes pledge to Tennessee

Martin makes pledge to Tennessee
By Phil Kornblut

DB Pat Martin of (6-0 192) of JL Mann announced a commitment Sunday afternoon to Tennessee. Martin had favored the Vols for much of the summer. He did take a close look at USC and LSU, but Tennessee had been recruiting him the hardest throughout the process. Martin is a physical player who tackles well in space. He's played safety for just one season. He also plays running back. Last season he had 92 tackles with 2 interceptions and he broke up a dozen more passes.
