1. I'm here in DC to remember my dad and uncles, all WWII vets, Doug Knott, Fairmont High School Class of 61, KIA 1966 while serving with the 25th Infantry Division, J. Allen Lofton, USMC KIA 1968, Ken Rex, Korean war tin can sailor and those who served with me in Vietnam.

Nice link Cincy.

When I think of 11/11 Veteran's Day, I first think of my grandmother. She was a Wave in WWII. That is where she met my Grandfather. She also happened to be born on 11/11/22 so that is why I think of her first over my grandfather.

I also think of my uncle. Just had drinks with him during the off week at my brother's wedding. He is a Vietnam Vet.

The real reason I post though is the coming home story. I know you are a writer Cincy and wanted to tell you about a literary project that my uncle participated in when he came home. It was a collection of Vietnam vets from the county. They each got some space to tell their story. Sold the book locally for the VFW or something similar. I can't remember the name of the book and I don't own a copy myself, but it was interesting. Maybe something for you to kick around. Maybe not. Either way.

Most interesting thing was going through the book looking for my uncle's bit. I don't know a whole lot of vietnam vet types in town, but I do know their children and what not. Nearly every name that came home was recognizable as so and so's dad. Seems like every family was impacted, and that is just the ones that lived to come home and reproduce.
