The #1 recruiting class in the nation just got a lot better today when newly minted 5-star recruit, Tyjon Lindsey and fellow 5-star receiver Trevon Grimes decided to pick the Ohio State Buckeyes as their college of choice via a video posted to Bleacher Report. Lindsey picked the Buckeyes over Nebraska, USC, Alabama and 20 other offers. Grimes selected Ohio State over Florida, Florida State and Miami (FL). Lindsey and Grimes become committment #17 and #18 in a class expected to hit 22 or 23 by February.
Lindsey, who recently transferred back to Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada has been a top priority for the Buckeye coaching staff who are looking to bring in difference makers on the offensive side of the ball. Lindsey was offered back in August of 2015 and the Buckeyes immediately shot to the top of his list. A pair of his teammates at Bishop Gorman, Tate Martell and Haskell Garrett have also committed to the Buckeyes for the class of 2017, so Nevada will be sending the Buckeyes a trio of the nations top prospects next summer.
Back when Tate Martell was committed to the Texas A&M Aggies, it was expected that Lindsey would join him there. However, Martell decommitted and had subsequent fallout from coaches making mistakes on social media and in camps, Lindsey also decided that A&M was no longer an option. Martell then committed to Ohio State back in June, and immediately turned his attention to getting his one time housemate, and top offensive target to Ohio State. Lindsey continued to flirt with Nebraska, even making a couple of visits there, however when it was all said and done the lure of Ohio State and playing with his friends could not be topped.
Trevon Grimes commitment comes as a little surprise as he has had the Buckeyes on the top of his list since his Freshman year in High School. Grimes hails from St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida which has been a recruiting hot bed for Ohio State of late with Joey and Nick Bosa both heading to play for Coach Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes over the past few seasons. Grimes should make an immediate impact at wide receiver for the Buckeyes, and together with Tyjon Lindsey and Tate Martell the Buckeye offense should be in good hands when these guys take the reigns from the current group of Buckeyes.
