Pittsburgh star favors two

Wide receiver and defensive back Brandon Ifill (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) has 17 scholarship offers. However, his decision is down to five schools.

Ifill has narrowed his list to Pitt, West Virginia, Maryland, Michigan and Rutgers. He has visited all but Michigan, and that will change in the next couple weeks.

"I'm going to take one more unofficial visit," Ifill said. "I'm going to visit Michigan at the end of the month. I'll visit there July 31."

Even though Ifill will have visited all five schools by the end of the month, he is not planning to select a college anytime soon.

"I think I'll take some official visits," he said. "I'll probably take all five, to those five schools."

The 6-0, 175-pound Ifill has started at wide receiver and either cornerback or safety since the beginning of his sophomore season. He caught 31 passes and made 37 tackles during his junior season.

"I'm getting recruited for wide receiver, safety and cornerback," Ifill said. "Any of the three is OK."

When asked if he has a favorite school, Ifill said, "It's probably between Michigan and Maryland. I've been to Maryland twice. I feel comfortable with the coaching staff. Michigan has been recruiting me the longest. Coach (Rich) Rodriguez has been recruiting me since he was at West Virginia."
