BN $ - Tebow-Like QB Brause Likes Ohio State

2/10

By BK...getting mail from Ohio State, Michigan State, Illinois, Purdue, Alabama, Cincinnati, UCLA and Kansas...was at the OSU/PSU game.

Anybody know how the good the competition he's competing against is? Seems like he's playing a lot faster than 4.68 (so unless he's playing against kids with thick midwestern ankles...). His vision is pretty good, and he seems like a down-hill type of runner who shakes off tacklers. I also like his arm strength - he makes a couple of nice throws on bootlegs to his left in his video. However, it seems like a disproportionate number of those highlights came against one team (black pants, white shirts, orange trim - anybody know which team that is?). Anyway, he looks like a good prospect.

Plays in a small school conference with some teams barely able to field a squad some years. Wynford is always one of the top 2 teams in the conference, but the bottom-half schools aren't football schools by any stretch. Nothing at all against him as a player, but the competition isn't great.

Good athlete. You gotta love the combo of size and athleticism...I wonder if he can catch the ball because I think he could be a great TE, possibly LB. I think he will be a D1 player, maybe just not at QB. You can tell his arm strength needs to improve when he throws the out routes. However, he does release the ball pretty quick and is fairly accurate. Definetly a guy to keep an eye on in terms of possible Big 10 offers depending on how he does at camps/combines, but I don't think he will be high up on OSU's board. Besides that, I don't see us missing on both Gardner and Montana.

In a relative sense, since a quarterback's speed doesn't have to be reactionary, 4.68 is pretty darn fast.

Southeast Recruiting Blog - ESPN

Quarterback Tyler Brause (Bucyrus, Ohio/Wynford) had an outstanding junior season. He completed 55 percent of his passes for 1,795 yards. Brause threw 18 touchdown passes and was intercepted just six times. He also rushed for 698 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The 6-foot-5 and 220-pound Brause reminds some of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. Brause directs Wynford's spread offense, but also will go from under center and drop into the pocket or run the 'bootleg.'

Recruiters from Ohio State, Stanford, Michigan State, Cincinnati, Illinois, Purdue, Alabama, Kansas, UCLA and a few others are showing interest in Brause.

Brause received a scholarship offer from Stanford on Wednesday, his first offer.

Some Players to Watch late - Duane Long's OSU Buckeyes Football Report

3 - Tyler Brause - Ath - Wynford. He plays quarterback. I don't see an Ohio State caliber quarterback. I don't know if many schools are going to offer as a quarterback but as an athlete this kid is very intriguing . He is 6-4 220 and can he ever run. Alot of buzz about TE. I think about trying him somewhere on defense. He is athlete enough to give him a shot a strong safety but linebacker is where I think he could be a great find. Maybe even at DE. He has a reported 4.68 forty. And he throws okay. He throws well enough to be an emergency quarterback, unlike Johnson or Pentello. His only offer is Stanford.

Given Duane Long's previous mention of Brause as a TE prospect, I'm interested in seeing how this plays out.

Ohio State Buckeyes College Football Recruiting, OSU Big Ten Football, OSU Basketball - Bucknuts.com

Bucyrus (Ohio) Wynford quarterback Tyler Brause worked out at Ohio State's June 14 Advanced Camp and the OSU staff was impressed with his speed and athleticism. They have asked him to return to Ohio State for tomorrow's Advanced Camp, but this time as a tight end.
The 6-foot-5 and 220-pound Brause has scholarship offers on the table from Stanford, Maryland, Syracuse, Bowling Green, Western Michigan and a few others as a quarterback. However, he recently worked out for Purdue and Illinois as a tight end. Both schools have offers out to other tight ends, but have told Brause he will be next in line on their lists.
