Franklin doesn't play DL to the best of my knowledge. It is also worth pointing out that although he may have started every game last season, he split time fairly evenly with fellow class of '10er Eric Vendemia (6-5 270).

Pitt has offered, joining Kansas, Indiana, Bowling Green, Toledo and Akron...thinks Wisconsin, Ohio and Purdue could be close to offering and has been invited to camp at South Carolina.

Don't forget about Tressel and the Buckeyes - ESPN

Franklin holding out for more offers

It is a very good year in the state of Ohio for offensive linemen. Over half a dozen of the top linemen in the Midwest hail from the Buckeye State.

One very talented lineman that doesn't get as much attention as some of the others is Eric Franklin (Youngstown, Ohio/Cardinal Mooney). The 6-foot-6, 330-pounder started all 12 games at left tackle last season as Cardinal Mooney made it to the state playoffs and finished with a 9-3 record.

Franklin has close to a dozen scholarship offers including Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana, Pitt, Louisville and a host of MAC schools.

"I'm thinking about all of them," Franklin said. "I haven't narrowed it down at all yet. I'm holding out to see who else offers. I don't have any favorites."

Even after Franklin narrows his list down, he doesn't anticipate quickly selecting a college.

"I'll take official visits," he said. "I think I'll take all five. I haven't picked any of them yet."

I don't know who I would rank where but the next three guys that stood out were Eric Franklin, the Mooney tackle, Braylon Heard, the Mooney running back committed to West Virginia, and Glenville junior quarterback Cardale Jones.

The Buckeyes are looking hard at DeSales junior Chris Rock. He already has offers from Michigan, Notre Dame and BC. Franklin handled him all day. If a player you think is the real deal gets handled by a guy it seems a natural to look into that guy.

Gary Housteau says Franklin has grade issues. That has to be the reason he isn't getting recruited more. That could work out in the Buckeyes favor. I don't know if he is close to qualifying or there is no chance. I know that finding a player of this quality who has qualified come late January could fit in nicely with the timeline on this class for the Buckeyes.
