Lengthy intro to Will Studlien by Gary Housteau...coaches from Akron, Pitt, Northwestern and OSU (Fickell) were at Big Walnut to see about Will at the end of last year. Missed camp with an ankle injury.

Already looks to have solid MLB measureables. Studlien, Adam Homan and Storm Klein would be one heckuva LB pull in 2009. Wrestler, Rugby player, huge Buckeye fan, excited about wearing A.J. Hawk's Green Bay jersey number... ? I would be surprised if he ISN'T in our 2009 class.

Looks like a true LB, who is gonna stick at that position.. I'm really excited after watching that tape and reading how much he idolizes AJ.. I love that closing speed...

Im telling ya, nothing compares (to me) to when you see great tape from an Ohio LB... Gets me giddy, cause you know they grew up watching Big Kat, Wilhelm, AJ, Carpenter and are gonna play the position hard nosed and do everything they can to live up to the guys who came before them..

I'd also be suprised if Studlien isn't one of the first commits in the 09 class... although missing camp probably puts an possible offer on hold for awhile

Why are all the linebackers the ones with awesome names?
Hawk..
Storm...
STUDlien...

I absolutely love that name, and was disappointed to read that it is pronounced as something other than Stud. (Stewd) At any rate, as far as names go, his school's name is something I had never heard of until Van Wert met up with Big Walnut in the playoffs some odd years ago (2000?). Many ways to play with that one.

The year of the Linebacker?

I find it interesting that the staff is reportedly looking at a couple of OOS LBs in Dorian Bell (MI) and Jordan Whiting (KY), especially considering that it looks like a pretty good slate of in-state LBs next year. For instance, Duane Long has four LBs in his Ohio top ten for 2009. #2 Julius Ferrell, #4 Will Studlein, #7 Storm Klein, and #9 Mike Marrow.

All of that being said, Studlein looks like he fits the mold...and you gotta love the fact that he wears #47. (Along those lines, Julius Ferrell is a Y'town kid and wears #11, so I don't know if that means he's a Nit or not.)

He looks great on film...Granted I might be a little rusty as this is the first football film I have viewed for about 2 months, but he arrives with bad intentions and drives thru the ball carrier. He also has great instincts and sift his way thru traffic...

STUDLEIN ROLLS OVER Edit Central Crossing

Edit: Definitely a smaller school with less talent. Nothing to brag about here. Next week at Thomas Worthington. That will be a true testament to Will's domination of high school football. Will has two super stars with him in his quest in Ethan Wetzel and Jared Suvak. This is going to be a great year for Big Nut. Studlein's brother was all state in 2002 when Big Nut went to state.
