Rayen High School
(Youngstown, OH)

Height: 5-foot-9
Weight: 185 lbs.

Could be one of the top RBs in the state next year. Size might be the only issue, but he has the talent. Film from his sophmore year is available on Scout. He is a HEAVY OSU lean at this point, should he eventually get offered by the Buckeyes.

There is a picture of Gary taken by Gary Housteau.

I watched his highlight reel, and gotta say, it was very impressive for a soph runningback.

He reminded me of Deangelo Williams/Ladainian Tomlinson in terms of his running style.

He may be "small" but he's a powerful back who runs north south and makes a LOT of people miss. He has a really quick burst, great shiftiness, and always falls forward. His offensive line didn't look to great either. Definitely a guy to keep an eye out for in 2008.

from everything I have heard, Gary is a heck of a young man and a solid football player...just the kind of kid JT and the staff will take a long look at.

Yes he is. The 08 class already has some nice TBs in Thornton, Beachum, & Ashley (luckily for me, I'll see at least two of them this season), so Thorton knows that he'll have to come out swinging this season. Like I said earlier, I wish him nothing but the best in his future.

By Lichtenfels...Gary talks about why he and Sal Battles stayed to be apart of the new Youngstown East when Rayen closes next year instead of going somewhere like Mooney. He mentions hearing from schools such as Akron, Michigan, Purdue, Wisconsin, Indiana, Penn State, Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami (OH), Iowa, West Virginia and Pittsburgh.

Junior Film

Looks a bit undersized to be a college linebacker but hits like a ton of bricks and fills gaps well. As a ball carrier, good leverage and quick feet. Attacks the line of scrimmage. Reminds me a bit of Mo Wells working out of a shotgun attack.
