Luke George
Warren Harding
Quarterback / Defensive end
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 215 pounds
Forty time: 4.58 seconds
Bench reps: 19 @ 225 lbs

One of the biggest surprises at Warren G.Harding this off-season has been the emergence of Luke George. Last season, George was moved to tight end because the quarterback position was filled, but there will be a huge change for 06. George has committed himself to becoming the main guy under center for the Raiders, and he's done that with an outstanding work ethic. He has camped at Youngstown State, Miami of Ohio, Ohio University, and Ohio State, in addition to participating in Thom McDaniels' annual quarterback camp. He has been impressive to say the very least. At 6'4, 212 pounds, George ran a 4.62 at the Ohio University camp, but his fastest recorded time was a 4.58 at WGH. He has also made an effort to get stronger as he did an impressive 17 reps of 225 at the Ohio U camp. He also turned some heads at the Ohio State Advanced Skills Camp, giving the OSU coaching staff a huge surprise. Even though he has yet to line up under center at WGH, George is already receiving some serious interest from Bowling Green, Toledo, and Cincinnati. With his size, if he backs up his solid off-season with an equally impressive 06 season, schools' current interest in him will multiply into numerous offers.

I have wondered about him actually since seeing him in a recent photo gallery of WGH players on Scout. He looks the part of a big time QB, now (much like you said) he just needs to back it up on the field. Do you think he could become Ohio State caliber?

That's a good question, but George has been working his nutt off all offseason. Plus, as stated above, he did very well at Ohio State's camp. He has the size and the tools, and I'm very excited about his potential this season. In addition to that, his emergence will help Herron & Glover (who's also expected to play TB this season) because teams won't be able to stack the box on WGH like they did last season (EVERYBODY knew the ball was going to Herron last season). With that being said, I don't know about Ohio State (George's parents are diehard Ohio State fans), but if WGH is successful as a team and George can keep the mistakes to a minimum, he will be on the radar of many schools for 07.

I wouldn't mind rooting for another George at Ohio State. It was pretty fun last time :).

Right now, he is receiving lots of interest from Cincinnati, Bowling Green, and Toledo, thanks mainly to his performance at Ohio State's camp. I believe that Bowling Green is actually looking at him for defense right now (he may get PT at DE this season). Goerge JUST might be the best kept secret for the c/o 07 right now, so only time will tell how far he has come. If he reaches his potential, things will get VERY interesting.

George looked like the best player on the field in WGH's scrimmage against Solon today. Looked good at QB & even better at DE. I was already excited about George due to his work ethic during the off-season, but now I am even more. WOW!

Still early, but no offers yet - any chance that he walks on to Ohio State?
