From the ND site...Ragone was in South Bend for an unofficial this past weekend. Charlie extended a written offer to Mike during the Junior Day festivites. Weis also told him he was the only TE they were offering in the '07 class. He has a 2.8 GPA and also has an offer from Rutgers.

there are a lot of good TEs recruits available next year so I don't know if Ragone will even be a priority at this point. Guys like Marquis Singleton, Kyle Hubbard, Kendrick Bruton and Eric Thomas could end up as TEs, as could someone like Kyle Jefferson (Rivals even has him listed as a TE/WDE in their database).

According to someone on Bucknuts this is what Weis did when he offered Ragone:
"[Weis] took off his Super Bowl ring and passed it to me," he said. "It was great. It really made my weekend

Im already tired of that crap...

I agree. This Weis-is-god crap is getting on my nerves. Who cares that he got a super bowl ring as an assistant coach. All that matters is what he does on the college level now and he may do well. However he hasn't proven that much yet. Tressel should pass him 5 national championship rings........

Video of Mike.

My Take: Isnt anywhere close to a 4.45 like his profile suggest. Probably more like a 4.65. He shows great hands and ability to use his body to catch the ball. He looks like a difference maker as a TE. Very good looking prospect.

Mike says that no school has backed off of him and more offers are still coming.

My Take: Isnt anywhere close to a 4.45 like his profile suggest. Probably more like a 4.65.

The article also discusses a play from last season where Mike caught a short pass and outran the entire defense for 89 yards...including former tOSU target and current USC safety Antwine Perez who was officially clocked at 4.53 at a Rivals combine last year.

Speed is very deceptive on these highlight reels. Some guys can run an extremely fast 40 yard dash, but don't look like it on film due to their size and explosiveness.

Take for example Peter Warrick. He ran a 4.6 at the NFL combine, but if you asked anybody before the combine who the fastest guy in college football, they would have included Warrick in their top 3 fastest guys. The fact is, he could accelerate extremely quickly, and could cut extremely fast as well. However his top end speed was really not that fast.

That's my best guess with guys like Ragone and such. They don't look as fast since they can't cut well from their size, and likewise, don't necessarily accelerate fast. However, since they stride so long, many of these guys have incredible top end speeds, and are very fast. Sort of like Matt Jones i suppose.
