The first and only mention of Hopatcong, NJ since my days in Iceland. What a great story that was.....

What do you know about this kid?

not much except that he looks like a tremendous talent and is hearing from every major program already. I am going to post his 2005 stats in the first post, but I can tell you he ran for 200+ in 8 games last year. I also know he is intereted in BC because of the fact that Brian Toal went there.

He reminds me a bit of Brian Leonard more than he does Barry Sanders, minus the 30-35 pounds Leonard has put on since showing up at Ruters.

Some more info on Joe...

2005 football:
1st Team Associated Press All-State
West Jersey Player of Year
All-Academic League (3.1 GPA)
2,508 rushing yards (Joe is only about 1,300 yards short of NJ's all-time record which is 6,720 yards)

2004 track stats:
High Jump - 6'8"
Javelin - 195'
Long Jump - 21'11"
Triple Jump - 44'9"

Those track numbers are impressive for anyone, little alone a sophmore...

Sounds like a great athlete... Can never have too many of those...

If you want to see the definition of an athlete, watch this video. A college RB coach will work on the advanced techniques like running lower to the ground, leverage and ball position, but you can't teach that combination of size and speed. Every clip shows him absolutely running away from people and his performance at the 2006 Meet of Champions combined with his sub-4.5 speed proves Joe has great measurables. I especially like the clip of him taking the toss left, turning up field and then hurdling a defender.
