I would normally not start a thread on a kicker this late in the game, but it appears as though there might be some real interest here as Jonas has received an official offer to play baseball at OSU and is considering an official visit. I still don't know if there is anything more to this story (and I am certainly not condoning an offer when we are trying to abnk as many as possible for next year), but this still might be a situation to watch...

Schmitt was a two-time all-Metro punter in St. Louis and an all-state selection as a senior.

Jonas will visit Missouri this weekend and says they are his leader (father, brother, mom's family all went to Mizzou), followed by OSU and Northwestern. He has also heard from Kansas, Kansas State and Notre Dame.

Agreed...I really like Buchanan...

I just figured we could start a thread and if he ends up here we could move it to the baseball forum temporarily until we more know about his football aspirations.

From the Mizzou site...Schmidt is still undecidedand is contemplating a partial scholarship for baseball at OSU and the chance to walk-on the football team. Mizzou wants him to walk-on to the football team.

Looks like Jonah could be a part of this class...

Wad, if he is a part of this class would he be considered a punter or kicker? Also if he ends up here would that make us not take a kicker, like Buchanan for the 08 class?

I agree with 22 and think that he would be a welcome addition considering he wouldnt be counting against the schollie total until he played a snap correct?

Not sure of that rule because I don't think he took an official visit here, and his LOI would be for a different sport...

Here's the kicker

Jonah Schmidt's college decision wasn't easy.

Should the Chaminade senior two-sport standout go to the University of Missouri, where his father pitched in the late 1970s, to play baseball and possibly walk on to the football team as a punter in a couple years?

Or should he go to Ohio State to play baseball for his father's former college coach, Bob Todd, with the possibility of being the Buckeyes' punter and playing in the Horseshoe in front of 100,000 fans in a few years?
