Sherod is the brother of former tOSU target and current South Carolina player O.J. Murdock. He currently claims a written offer from Alabama and verbal offers from Maryland, N.C. State, Pittsburgh, and Ohio State. He also has interest in Michigan, South Carolina, and his childhood favorite, Florida. He will camp at Michigan, South Carolina, and Alabama before making a late decision.

Florida seems to be poping up more often. These kids must remember the Spurrier years... I wonder how much Florida can capitalize on this (and thank Spurrier) or does South Carolina pull some of these kids due to the spurrier connection...

Think you mean that South Carolina keeps poping up, but I knew what you meant.

Hey Grad do you think he will follow his brother or is it to early to tell??

Florida DB Murdock commits to Alabama

Tuesday, June 13, 2006

TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama landed another Florida prep player and another defensive back on Monday as Sherod Murdock committed to play for the Crimson Tide.
Murdock, a 5-11, 175-pound cornerback out of Tampa Middleton, camped at Alabama over the weekend and made the trip up with receiver Jermaine McKenzie, a fellow Tide commitment.
Murdock is the younger brother of South Carolina receiver O.J. Murdock, who had been recruited by Tide assistant Dave Ungerer. Sherod Murdock picked Alabama over Ohio State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina and West Virginia.

"The whole coaching staff is great," Murdock told Rivals. "You have to see them out there teaching the players to completely understand how good they are."
Murdock had been leaning toward Alabama for many months, but his experience on campus over the weekend swayed him.
"I got to work out with coach (Chris) Ball," Murdock said. "I learned a few new things this weekend. I enjoyed working out with him."
Alabama now has five prep commitments, four from the Sunshine State and two of them defensive backs. Murdock joins McKenzie, of Bradenton, Fla., running back Jamar Taylor of Lakeland, Fla., cornerback Chris Lett of Pensacola, Fla., offensive lineman William Vlachos of Mountain Brook, receiver Desmond Jennings of Itawamba (Miss.) College, and defensive back Michael Ricks of Northeast Mississippi College.
