Demetrice Parks said:
"I explode to the ball very fast . I am able to do that because my reads are so quick and on point . My hips turn very quickly, so I'm able to drop and get to the ball when we are in passing situations . Then what looks like a 10 yard gain becomes a 4 or 5 yard gain because my reaction to the ball is so quick its amazing . I consider myself to be a very versatile linebacker. What could I say I'm a excellent backer?"

From Scout.com...Demetrice was recently visited by Coach Petersen of OSU and says that OSU is very high on his list. He is being told that several offers should be comnig in soon.

My take: Not sure yet if this kid is going to get an offer, but I like what I hear so far. If you go back and read some of the updates, it appears this kid is a player and probably will be getting some serious DI offers soon.

Keep in mind he put up those stats playing for one of the top HSs in the country He put up those numbers despite missing two games and playing on a defense that included Alfred Rowe and Vincent Josephy (both signed with USC) as well as two other '07 prospects that are highly rated, Kenny Rowe and Donovan Warren.

How much would I love to get this kid and Warren as a package?

There are some things that you can count on in this life of ours like a broken clock being right twice a day, you will pay taxes and Long Beach, Calif., Poly will have D-I football players that walk their halls.
Linebacker Demetrice Parks (6-2, 220, 4.7) looks to be another Jackrabbit player with a good shot at playing on the D-I level.
Like many Poly players before him, Parks is athletic and versatile. He could end up playing Will, Sam or Mike backer on the next level.

</td> </tr> </tbody></table> Parks earned second-team all-CIF and second-team all-league in one of the southern California's toughest conferences.
In ten games, Parks was a one-man wrecking crew racking up 103 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, five pass deflections, four sacks, four fumble recoveries and one interception.
According to Parks, Utah came by the school on Wednesday (April 26th) and are close to offering him a scholarship.
The Oregon Ducks are also showing Parks a lot of interest by sending him handwritten letters and is scheduled to be on the Poly campus soon.
Oklahoma is also showing interest and are writing letters and sending emails to Parks. The Sooners have invited him to their full-contact camp to get an up close look of Parks in action.
Because Parks is such an outstanding student with his 3.75 GPA and 1320 SAT, the likes of Harvard and Brown are also recruiting him.
Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Oregon State, UCLA, USC, Washington, Colorado, LSU, Tennessee, Illinois, Boise State, Nevada and Duke have all written letters of interest to Parks.
The scouting report on Parks is he has a high football IQ and is an excellent reader of offenses. He has great vision and for the most part gets to the football in a hurry.
If there is one thing Parks is working on is he wants to be more explosive to the ball. Because he is so smart he has a tendency to think too much instead of getting to the football.
Still for the most part he lets his football instincts take over.
What is Parks looking for in a college?
"Í want to go to a school with a good atmosphere and a diverse student-body," Parks said. "I am also hoping to go to a school where the weather is nice. I've been in Long Beach my whole life and sun shines a lot."
"I am looking for a school with a great academic institution because I am always challenging myself with my studies," Parks said. "I am taking advanced courses right now."
