Love averaged about 60 games per year during his time in Minnesota, and struggled with back problems last year. I don't consider the Olynyk incident in calling him injury prone.
As mentioned before, I'm not convinced Wiggins was a fit for Lebron Cavs team. I'm not nearly as hard core against it as you are obviously. My point, as mentioned before, is that Kevin Love isn't a great fit EITHER. He added some necessary outside shooting, but not much else for team who...
Maybe you should actually pay attention to the what's being talked about before spouting off. It's whether there were better options than trading for Kevin Love. Wiggins may not have been a great fit for the Cavs (which I think is hard to compare from his role at Minny), but there were other...
Thanks. You're right. Trading a future perennial all-star for an injury prone player who may never again reach all-star status is pure genius. I like you though - stupid people amuse me.
I've seen a recent RPI and that is my main worry. Two games against MSU and one against Iowa will probably raise our RPI regardless of whether we win or lose, but we need a significant jump. My feeling that we have a decent shot at 19-12 isn't based on the overall. It's more the 11-7 BIG...
You're talking about Wiggins as if he's a player in his prime and not a 20/21 year old in the middle of his 2nd season in the NBA, with very little veteran talent around him. I think you're trying to justify the trade that you were calling a no-brainer a year and half ago.
It was a bad trade...
That would be a 20-11, 12 - 6 conference record team being left out of the tourney.
Nevermind, it just hit me that you're saying a 19-12, 11-7 team would be left out, and we need the 20-12, 12-6 mark. I don't think 19-12 is a lock, but I definitely wouldn't call it "no chance".
That's what I've been hoping for all along to give us a chance. A 19-12 regular season with 11-7 in the BIG has to get some serious consideration. Our RPI isn't looking too good, so hopefully that rises before selection Sunday.
I think there is merit to that idea, but like someone already alluded to, this team could blow an early game in the NIT and nullify the benefit of a long run. I'm thinking of it this way - even a one and done trip to the NCAA tourney gives these guys some feel of the big tourney going into next...
Even if you don't like the fit of Wiggins on this Cavs roster, I still wouldn't make the Love trade. What if the Cavs had tried to trade Wiggins for Andre Drummond? It probably wouldn't have taken too much to add to Wiggins to make that deal. Then there would still be assets left to go after...
I think we could get better if we could get an established star with some baggage, like Cousins, or someone who has star potential but is young, like Okafor. We probably don't get better immediately with the young player. Someone like Ryan Anderson is exactly what I have in mind as a...
Windbag is reporting that the Cavs have expressed interest to other teams about trading Love, but they never inquired about Melo. The Cavs want another star, the Celtics want Love, so they have looked around the league at a possible 3rd team to make a trade happen.
I know we've been in win now...
I'm intrigued by the idea. I really haven't watched Melo play that often. Is his defense a lack of effort more than anything? Maybe he would turn that up if he were in a meaningful playoff series, which is something he's never been involved in if my memory is correct.
In this scenario, how...
This seems like a win-win situation. Ball is no slouch and deserves a chance to kick some butt on the field. I'm glad to hear it's going to happen at an Ohio MAC school.
This one really surprises me. Jamar has a limited window (I'm assuming two years of eligibility left?) which I think would make OSU the much more appealing option, but I guess not.
I can't see a BIG team with an 11-7 conference record being left out of the tourney. Upsets in the conference tourneys could make it tougher, but I'd love our chances with that record.
