That's strange, I don't recall insinuating anything about Ohio State. The fact that we play 18-20 guys on defense is just that, a fact. The fact that freshman have scored 40% of our points this year was quoted by your own Kirk Herbstreit during the Rose Bowl.
Again, the yards allowed is deceiving since the Ducks have only trailed a couple times all year. Most teams have had to play from significant deficits. That means they had no choice but to throw the ball a lot. Does it really matter if you give up another 200-300 yards if you're winning by 35...
Good analysis. Man, would you stop the Mark May references, though - please? It's like freakin' kryptonite! I don't know who drives me more crazy, him or Lou Holtz.
Oh, wait. I have a tiebreaker. I'll spot you a Mark May and respond with a great big Skip Bayless! I know, that's so wrong. Lol.
I keep seeing this and scratching my head. Yes, we gave up a lot of yards but that means very little. They were trying to catch up most of the second half, so they were throwing the ball a lot, right?
The only statistic that matters is the final score. I've been having this same conversation...
I'll reply. :-)
Yes, Mariota is a much better QB than Masoli was. No question. The offensive lines are similar, but we're a bit bigger, stronger and deeper now. The general consensus is that Left Tackle Jake Fischer and Center Hroniss Grasu, will both be early round picks in the NFL draft...
Honestly, #5 (Devan Allen), played quite a bit early in the season but as time went on Mariota began to distribute the ball around a lot more. Allen was our fastest receiver, but we're loaded at the position, so although you never want to lose a player of his caliber, we have plenty of quality...
Of course they do. I wouldn't argue that, but that wasn't your question. You wanted to know what makes this Oregon team different from the team you played in 2009. The answer is "we're a lot better".
To an extent, but the Ducks are deep and have a lot more experience than we did at the...
We're more talented in almost every area. You have to remember that the 2010 Rose Bowl was the culmination of Chip Kelly's first season as head coach. He brought in a LOT of talent over the following 4 years and Coach Helfrich has continued that trend. We're a little bigger and much stronger on...
Just as an observation, I think it's a combination of adjusting to what the opposition is doing. Our biggest Qtr all season has been the 3rd Qtr, so they make adjustments at halftime then come out and rev up the engine.
Actually, both of our guys are outstanding backs. Both were 5 star recruits. Tyner had a decent season last year backing up Byron Marshall, who rushed for over 1,000 yards last year, but has been moved around at RB, in the slot, etc. When fall camp came around it was clear that Royce Freeman was...
I'm originally from Eugene, but lived in Tacoma for several years, so I have a pretty good perspective on how the Huskies hate us. Trust me, the feeling is VERY mutual. They've had their noses in the air ever since they split the championship with Miami back in 1990. They've been really hating...
The Ducks are a bit bigger and a lot stronger on both lines than they have been in the past. Coach Helfrich wanted our linemen to be bigger without losing any quickness, so they underwent an offseason regimen of weight training and diet. Some guys have added up to 10 pounds of muscle and it's...
