Went to the Quarter today--Scarlet and Grey is everywhere. Some guy in a military amphibious vehicle with OSU flags was there--he a regular at home games?
There were constant shout-outs where fans of both teams were doing school cheers over the other. "O-S-U's" were answered with "Tiger...
The Coffee Pot is OK, but about a block away is a place called the Gumbo Shoppe. The Coffee Pot is sort of a "knock-off" of the Gumbo Shoppe--the menu is about the same, signs look the same, and they're only a block apart. The locals here in N.O. will go down the the Quarter sometimes just to...
I've heard good things about it, and I'm sure you'd get a great steak there, but you don't come to New Orleans to go to someplace you can go to in any big city. Do a local thing instead, like a few of the other suggestions. I've lived in N.O. for all of my years (except the 9 month Katrina...
I may have posted this before, but if you take a bus or van tour of the "destruction", you'll pass by the breach at the 17th Street Canal. If you are allowed to get out, go to the house about 4 down from the levee on the cross street with the 8 foot inflatable LSU Tiger on the front lawn...
I agree that stopping Early Doucet is key, but don't agree that that stops all the WR's. Dimetrius Byrd has come to be the "go-to" guy since Doucet's season has been so up and down with injuries. And Brandon Lafell has finally learned to catch the ball.
Buckeyes need to blitz blitz blitz...
I think you hit the nail on the head with our team. Great talent everywhere, but inconsistent.
Yes, I think Perilloux will mix it up a bit, especially after his showing in the SEC Championship Game. Hopefully he's out of Les' doghouse and will stay out of trouble now, since he's our best...
All great suggestions--Abita is my favorite beer! However, it's "TurboDog", a bit more intimidating name than TurtleDog :D. It's a dark ale and quite good.
My favorite Abita's are "Restoration Ale"--a pale ale where $1 per six pack is donated to Katrina relief, and their seasonal "Cristmas...
Yes, Buckeyes, I have o agree with SloMeaux--sign up on TigerDroppings.com--it's my homeboard too (though few post as much as Slo1). Similar to the Planet. Check out the OT lounge for totally uncensored outrageousness if you dare...
Oh no! Don't fall for the misconception that all N.O. food is spicy, or hot, or blackened! This is what you get anytime you go to a "Cajun" restaurant in other parts of the country, but is not the reality. Sure there are spicy dishes, but the spice doesn't always mean hot. Your wife will...
Most of the suggestions from fellow New Orleanians so far have been great, so no need to repeat them.
But one thing you folks ought to do if you have time is take a bus or van tour ("destruction tour") of the many still-decimated parts of our fair city. The places you'll be--from the French...
Most of us LSU folk would prefer the white also. But if we wear our (see above for descriptive terminology) purple jerseys and yellow/gold pants, at least the Buckeyes will be blinded by the fluorescence of it all...
True. Weird thing about LSU is that even under Saban's coaching staff, they've never depended on one star back for the load, like most teams seem to do. The "running back by committee" seems to be the norm for LSU. Even when one of the "Parade All-Americans" who "back up" Hester (Williams...
I was at that game. Ended 13-13, and the Bucks had Tom Tupa at punter and QB. There was some controversy because OSU wouldn't come out on the field before LSU, and both teams stalled in the tunnel. Finally I think they came out together. I believe OSU won the return game in Columbus.
I get that a lot--actually, I'm a dentist, and the parrot refer to being a "parrothead", or Jimmy Buffett fan. I'm sure you Cincy folks can get into that, since Cincinnati is the unofficial birthplace of the term "parrothead".
Born and raised in New Orleans, went to LSU for 8 years (OK, smartasses, that's a Bachelor and a graduate degree!). Diehard fan of the Purple and Gold, and am looking forward to my friend and her husband from Columbus staying with us the week of the game!
There's a great picture floating around of a play where Holliday is actually crouching down behind the O-line--the defense can't see him at all!
First timer here--look forward to discussing the game with you Bucks--I'll even be putting up a place for Two buckeyes in my house the weekend of the...
