    2026 tOSU Defense Discussion

I guess this bitch would be better placed in the special teams thread, but it underscores my earlier concerns about our transfer portal bailouts. This morning Eleven Warriors has a feature on a new transfer player... our new long snapper and why he chose tOSU. What?

    2026 tOSU Defense Discussion

I count seven defensive players in the portal that I would’ve expected to compete to start or see substantial playing time next season. That’s a number that makes me question what we saw and read all season. Why sit behind Downs, Iggy, McDonald, and Curry only to then leave when they do? Is...

Ok, now, wtf? Now, Delane’s entering the portal?

WR Brandon Inniss, Captain (All B1G, National Champion)

I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a better 2 than 3.

WR Coach Cortez Hankton (Official Thread)

He was right on both counts.

    LB Christian Alliegro (Official Thread)

I don't think you leave JL's room and MP's defense even if you have to wait/continue to rotate (and if you do, well...). Reese was a one year starter and will be a top 5 pick. Yes, much of that is athletic ability, but it's also development with JL and MP.

    WR Devin McCuin (Official Thread)

Assuming you're right about his routes, this is one of the great things about the portal: a kid with ability/speed and some results gets the chance to develop as a legit receiver. Could be similar to Klare's experience last off-season and season at TE; converse, of course, as he came in as a...

WR Coach Cortez Hankton (Official Thread)

Of course How do you get that I don't think we'll miss Hartline from my post? Of course we will and I was pushing him for HC-in-waiting all year. The facts are, though: that he didn't rotate players in and you can only develop so much without playing; seasons are longer with more chance of...

WR Coach Cortez Hankton (Official Thread)

It also depends on what you mean by development. Yes, Hartline got however many drafted in the first round, BUT every year only three ever saw real game minutes. That's not development, that's retarding development and it works when your starters stay healthy and you only play twelve games...

OL Coach Tyler Bowen (Official Thread)

I think it's still an open question. Scroll up a few and we have the best mid-season OL and worked over the skunkweasels. Then sucked against Indy and DaU. Last year we sucked early and got on a roll after being abused by the weasels.

S Malik Hartford (National Champion, transfer to UCLA)

Good competition in the off season.

S Malik Hartford (National Champion, transfer to UCLA)

Looking forward to a Hartford-McClain pairing next year. Certainly not happy to see Downs leave, but I feel better about it with a veteran stepping in.

QB Tavien St. Clair (Official Thread)

We really should get him some real minutes early next season.

    2025 Cotton Bowl: #2 tOSU vs #10 Miami-FL, Wed 12/31 7:30 ET at JerryWorld

There's definitely a way to lose it, P34, but it would be not taking them seriously and slack-assing the game. I agree with you and I just don't see that happening.

OT Austin Siereveld, Captain (All B1G, National Champion)

It's crazy that he has eligibility left. He looks like he's been working in a factory for twenty-five years to put three kids through college. Got what we in the south call that old man strong. :)

HC Ryan Day (B1G Coach of Year, B1G Champion, National Champion)

Yes, he excels at it, but he also sucks at it. It just depends on which Day we get and from much of what I’ve seen this year, I’m not super encouraged. Hartline didn’t call that bullshit Indiana scheme by himself. Let’s hope that we somehow get the CFP 2024 version.

WR Jeremiah Smith (All B1G, B1G Freshman of Year, B1G WR of Year, Unanimous All-American, 2025 Rose Bowl Off MVP, National Champion)

I’m inclined to agree even in a year where we’ve been too TE-focused.

LB Coach James Laurinaitis (2x B1G DPOY, 2006 Nagurski, 2007 Butkus, 2008 Lott, 3x All-American, OSU HOF, National Champion, CFB HOF)

And he/they did it in a relatively short time with one guy moving over from safety and the other going from our third LB last year to AA as a first time starter. That’s development.
