    2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

I would say of the 3, Bynum would get the best NIL offers. Royal would get a lot higher interest in the portal than you might think - he was pretty consistently productive & makes solid contributions in multiple areas. Mobley this past season had kind of a boom-or-bust type game & I don't...

    2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

I get the sense that Mobley wants to come back. Bynum, I don't have confidence that he's coming back as he seemed very undecided yesterday. Of those 3 guys, Royal has the most obvious reason to leave with Thompson coming in at SF. Of course you want to have Mobley, Bynum and Royal all back...

#8 Ohio State vs #9 TCU, Thursday March 19, 1215pm ET, CBS

I want to say one more thing about this game. The last play of the game isn't where OSU lost, IMO. You got surprised by TCU putting two guys guarding the inbounds pass with 4 seconds left & did not have a timeout. Obviously they didn't get what they wanted in that scenario, but putting the...

Bama made a run and leads by 2 at half.

Virginia does that often, their depth and physicality catches up with teams at the end of the game. They obviously show the importance of strength and depth.

Hofstra is up 7 midway thru the first half vs. Alabama. Pride came to play today.

I get it. But even on the West Coast there were a couple games & they do give you the schedule in advance. I personally went to two, one at home and one not at home. I'm sure many of us would go to more games if we were liking the product more.

Interesting point. @buckeyemania11 how many games did you attend this season?

That's funny, of the three I get the sense most fans feel Royal will be hardest to retain. Thompson is coming and he best fits at SF, which is where Royal wants to play.

Not hard if you pay a lot. If you don’t pay, you don't get helpful bench players. For OSU it's almost as if they have to have their bench being high school recruits they're trying to develop. The portal should be used for adding starters & emergency depth.

    2025-2026 College Basketball General Discussion

AJ Dybantsa was one of the premier freshmen in the country, is projected to be a high lottery pick, scored 35 against Texas, and BYU still struggled to keep up with Texas. Hmm.

    2025-2026 College Basketball General Discussion

BYU sent packing in the Round of 64 in spite of spending countless millions on NIL, including winning a bidding war for Kennard Davis Jr (who, while a starter, was not even one of their top players).

    2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

Yeah, the bench this year did not really come out to be what the team needed. Chatman proved capable at times, although he did not play well in the postseason. Of course Noel missed almost the entire B1G season and by the time he came back he was basically out of the gameplan - even so, his...

    2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

Yeah, the losses in the portal last season obviously have to impact your grade of the team. The fact is they didn't land top targets like Williams, Swain or Davis Jr. Basically, it seemed like any transfer that other high majors really wanted didn't come to OSU. With the understanding that...

I think in hindsight, much of Punch's confidence & comment was based on the expectation of matching up against Tilly. He owned Tilly in this game & OSU played right into his hands by not changing the lineup more.

I mean, it's not even something you had to adjust on the fly. I said before the game, this looked like a game where a Devin Royal small ball lineup would work. I don't know if that's a coaching decision or it may be they made promises to Royal that he would play the 3 this season and didn't...

    2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

Yeah, that's what worries me the most, NIL. The best players are expensive, and I don't think OSU is going to provide NIL that allows for them to get those types of players. So the coaches have to outsmart the competition - you could say maybe they did that with Amare Bynum, but no one else...

    2025-2026 Ohio State Men's Basketball

Alright. The season is over. Would you say the overall performance was below, met, or exceeded expectations? I would say this was a "meets expectations" season based on preseason projections, but certainly you'd like to have seen a little more success. Ideally, you get a couple real assets in...

#8 Ohio State vs #9 TCU, Thursday March 19, 1215pm ET, CBS

IMO it was a strategic error to play Tilly 31 minutes in this game. TCU is not a big team, they played bigger than their size but this was the textbook example of a team you can play with a small ball lineup against. OSU went on a huge run when Tilly was on the bench in the second half, then...
