The longer he's employed, the more convinced I am that all of this fake punt stuff was intentional bad calls made by Ryan Day and he's too insecure for that to be public so he just continues to employ Fleming.
If he got a late round grade and teams are skittish based on his inability to stay healthy for a full season, it’s reasonable and even likely that he could earn more money next year at OSU than in the NFL.
I could see why he would come back. A fully healthy year could easily put him late round 1.
They are. But they also don’t tell a full story. If he’s leaving 80-120 yards a game on the table by missing wide open guys, that’s a problem.
I think he’s a fine QB. Just not good enough for a National Championship caliber program.
I think everyone gets it and in a perfect world you’d have younger guys who would love to learn behind Fleming. Unfortunately we don’t live in that world. You have two guys on the roster right now with at least 2 years left who could go anywhere and start and the #1 overall recruit in the...
I think the people acting like the turnovers are the cause of this are being too reductive. The turnovers are obviously bad but in every game there were multiple plays where a receiver was running wide open and McCord either didn’t see him or just decided not to throw the ball for whatever...
If Smith leaves and anyone else goes with him, I think it’s a sign that Day’s “soft” reputation is basically irreparable to these kids.
Not a lot of top tier kids are going to want to go play for a program that gets mocked and clowned in public by its rival and doesn’t even appear remotely mad...
The defense has taken two consecutive leaps from where it was in 2021. At some point people need to come to grips with the fact that the defensive side was so massively screwed up with recruiting and development failures that you can’t just untangle the knot immediately.
Eh, S&C is something that continues to evolve and I don’t know that Mick has evolved with it. Our OL is stiff. Our DE’s don’t seem to have much bend on their rushes. Our speed at non skill positions seems on the decline. I think Mick specializes in brute strength and it’s really functional...
I agree that he’s had a worse year and he’s probably not going to be very good in the NFL, but his line is probably going to be much worse next year and this is a pretty weak RB draft so he’s playing with fire if he stays.
