Big Ten and other Conference Expansion

There's a small part of my brain wanting B1G to take Stanford and Cal, and shut up the ACC, ND, and everyone else. It could possibly be the nail in the coffin for the ACC

Big Ten and other Conference Expansion

The B1G is making moves to be the NFL of college football. Vegas would be another step in that direction.

I grew up in Newark and moved to Oregon 30 years ago (after living in 11 other states). Still a big-time Buckeyes fan. I feel very sorry for the Beav's. One of the founding members of the PACXX. Just invested a ton of money in doubling the size of their stadium. Passionate fan base. Honestly...

Day needs to be held accountable for this one. Last year was the defense, this year was the team

Been watching Buckeye football for 50 yrs. I survived the Cooper years. If he loses again, Day needs to go the way of Earl Bruce.

"The B1G operates on a different level than any league. It’s a partnership. The Academic Alliance is $11B/year." If you include USC and UCLA you're looking at $15,658,000,000 research dollars. You add Wash, Stan, Cal, Ore, and ND, you're at $19.5B. The B1G is going for it all. NBC and CBS are...

Big Ten and other Conference Expansion

This is pure speculation on my part so take it in that respect. The B1G just expanded coast to coast, marginalized ESPN to the SE US, and has 3 out of the 4 networks broadcasting its games. My gut tells me the BIG's endgame is not to be an equal with the SEC.

Big Ten and other Conference Expansion

The B1G wants to be the premier conference in the country in all ways (athletics, academics, ratings, etc). It doesn't get there with Miami, FSU, or even BC. I believe this will go the way its pretty much being reported.

I don't think Cal has any leverage, except maybe some AAU dollars. But even if they can get Cal in with a partial share, it's worth it to the Regents to make some noise. The thing I've wondered all along is what deal did we make with USC to join. From the evidence I've seen, USC started the...

Big Ten and other Conference Expansion

I think it's the UC regents making a lot of noise and threats to pressure the B1G to include Cal. That way the UC system gets more

NBC has a lot of reasons for not wanting ND in the B1G. If ND stays independent, in a few years if NBC wants out, they still have ND. If ND joins the B1G, NBC has nothing if they opt out of coverage.

I'm seeing that as well, but the fixation has been on the Seattle and Portland TV markets. With better weekly matchups, you increase the viewership in other markets. If the Patriots are playing the Bucs, the nation watches. If Oregon is playing the Bucks, the nation will watch. It's the NFL...

Big Ten and other Conference Expansion

In my view, this is why you bring in Oregon and Washington. If you're a national brand, you bring in schools that increase national viewership. The nation would tune in to see Oregon play tOSU, or USC, or even ichigan and Penn State

Big Ten and other Conference Expansion

NBC is pitching a fall Saturday football schedule that includes triple-header coverage of Big Ten games on Fox, CBS, and NBC from early afternoon to night. The slate would be followed by NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” the most-watched show in prime time for a record 11 straight years. "This...
