Any NFL franchise that would even consider hiring a guy who has a 16-21 record coaching major college football as their head coach deserves to fold. It's easy to say "no way" when nobody is ever going to ask.
"successful" depends on what you define success as.
Their schedule's the next 2 years are quite a bit of a step up from the gifts they've gotten handed the last couple of years.
2026
Oklahoma
Iowa
Indiana
Penn State (think Campbell will have them at least decent)
@ Oregon
@ Ohio State

These guys are grade A dumbasses
Clase only received reportedly "kickbacks and bribes" from about 400k won in bets. Clase was set to receive 6 million for the 2026 season.......
Luis Ortiz only reportedly received 60k from the scheme. His contract for 2025 was for 782.6K
4-5 is probably enough to get in as long as one of the losses isn't to Ped State.
Chatman starting to actually play and play decent gives me more optimism going forward.
Thankfully it's Maryland and they are awful. Seems to be a like 5 minute stretch in each game where we just decide to forget how to play basketball and go full self destruct.
Theyve pretty much hit rock bottom this season. Last 12 games they are 2-10 with the wins coming against Old Dominion and Ped State. Last home game was a 93-63 loss to Purdue so can't say I blame folks for not showing up
Yep. If they lose to Maryland they probably have to beat 2 of the more upper level teams left on the schedule (scUM, Virginia, Sparty and Purdue) to make up for it, and that likely is not happening with this squad
The moment that Whittingham decided to just bring all of his Utah/Mormon coaching sphere buddies along with him was the moment this was cemented into being a non-success. I guess the ultimate goal for scUM though was to "rebuild" their reputation, they will be ok with it for a couple of years...
I think that Whittingham will neither clean up the program or become corrupted by the program, they will still continue to try to run shady shit behind the scenes behind his back. I think tensions between him, and the Michigan people are gonna start pretty quickly. Hard to see him being there...
Being a annual national title contender is an unrealistic expectation but I don't think making the tournament most years with maybe a deeper run a couple of times a decade is a unrealistic expectation. What we have right now and the past couple of years is just not acceptable though.
The athletic department seems like they are ok with this level of meh as long as there is no bad press and they can continue to just sail off the football team. Diebler definitely isn't getting fired this year and I'd be moderately surprised if he got fired after next year even if he misses the...
There's really no flow of anything either, guys just kind of seem to do whatever they want to do, there's never any real plan. That's definitely on the coach.
I think this team is a tourney team (more than likely a first weekend out) with the right coach who has the ability to plan around and...
