2026 CA WR Chris Henry Jr. is a Buckeye!!!

    He moved back to Ohio?

I’m not sure Johnson is a fan of the “spill and kill” defensive philosophy. It effectively takes the DL out of the play. A lot of times, the DE’s job is simply to crash inside to leave players in the second level unblocked. It’s unconventional and cuts the opportunities for plays by the DL, but...

A lot of what you said is true. I just don’t agree that “he can’t strike a balance between rushing the passer and gap responsibilities.” That’s not some complex thing to teach. Other players flash when rushing the passer. Who in the last 2 years do you feel like should’ve been a dominant pass...

    2023 tOSU Defense

Oh no, I’m not meaning the ND game at all. I knew Joe Alt and Blake Fisher were going to be the real deal. They are undoubtedly the best OT duo OSU will see all season. PSU has an outstanding tackle, but the other side isn’t as good as Fisher. To me, as the game wore on the DE’s were a little...

    2023 tOSU Defense

Mitchell Melton and Kenyatta Jackson should be in for every single obvious passing situation. I don’t know or care who they put on the bench for it, but they’re clearly the two best pass rushers on the team.

“He doesn’t know how to balance an effective pass rush with gap responsibilities” is pretty funny. So all these years of being a DL coach, he’s only coached one or the other? So when the Bosas or Chase or Hubbard or anybody he’s coached that was a great pass rusher, did he not coach them gap...

An elite DE and an elite pass rusher are not mutually exclusive. I think JT is elite at everything except pass rushing. Same as Cam Heyward when he was here. Not saying JT is as good as Cam Heyward. But he’s more Cam than he is Chase.

When did Larry Johnson forget how to coach? Or could it just be that our DE’s aren’t good pass rushers?

QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

Who said people can’t be skeptical of coaching? Where did you pluck that from? When the team isn’t playing as well as people think they should, this board is very active with folks saying anything negative. Predicting 4 losses, calling for players to be benched, coaches fired, etc. We had...

QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

Some people on this board could stand to do so too. And not just about Kyle.

    2023 tOSU Defense

For the most part, they are. Spill and kill is Knowles’ preferred method of defending the run. Muddy up the interior make them bounce outside and let the unblocked LBs or the DB’s make the tackle. That’s why safeties are so important to this defense. Being able to trigger downhill fast but still...

    2023 tOSU Defense

Neither of them can bend. They both have good to very good first steps. But they just rush up the field. They can’t get underneath the OT and flatten out on a line to get to the QB. And I’m unreasonably annoyed by the DE’s bull rushing on 3rd and long. Nobody has any pass rush moves?

    2023 tOSU Offense

You reached pretty far for that one. You completely added your own context to it. It means they see these guys everyday running the same offense. They chose to roll with one primarily over the other. What do you think us seeing it will do?

    2023 tOSU Offense

CJ is good for one good scramble in big games. It just happened to be called back more often than not. Oregon was a drive killer. He scrambled for a first on 3rd and long and it was called for holding. Same thing as Michigan in 21. Killed any momentum they had. Those two stick out to me more...

    2023 tOSU Offense

Are you doing that thing where people on the internet read one thing and then reply to something that wasn’t actually said? Where did I advocate for never questioning a coach? Or where did I say a coach was above question?
  16. buchtelgrad04

    2023 tOSU Offense

My only question to this would be, if the coaches see this everyday and decided McCord is the guy they roll with, what do we need to see? Why do some think we can make a better decision than coaches? To the point where people are accusing coach Day of trying to appease parents, only preventing a...

QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

The best throw of the day, IMO, was the throw to Fleming in between zone coverage. Hell of a throw. It’s at the 5:00 mark in the above video.

QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

Is your opinion based on one play?

QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

I see a lot to like here. His throwing motion is a little clunky, but I like Kyle. He hasn’t even shown his teeth yet.

QB Kyle McCord (transfer to Syracuse)

I’m excited for him. He has the flashes to show that if/when he becomes consistent, he has the arm talent to be another 1st round pick. And I was even more impressed with his demeanor in the post game interviews. I like him.
