I imagine that the coaches spoke with Jackson and Curry similarly as they did with Henderson last year before bringing Judkins in. The portal is fraught with locker room ego problems, but we've always seemed to manage and avoid that.
And THAT is exactly the problem. I respect that he tried to work through it. Been there and that's baller, BUT tOSU shouldn't have to rely on a guy working through "a lot of “trial and error” in learning how to kick with an injured hip". That's poor special teams planning that degenerated...
We've all heard about Sayin's fast processing speed and quick release and those are phenomenal luxuries to have, but you have to be able to execute. Sometimes a pickup truck is what's necessary. Tough, gets the job done. That may what we have with LK. I'd certainly be happy with a more...
If he keeps improving, I like our chances with him. Howard showed that we can win it all with a guy who's a leader and athletic enough to move the chains. Worst case, he pushes Sayin to improve.
I just don't think Day squanders the post-NC karma reserve he's got on a bad DC hire. We can all speculate based on the past, but we don't really know anything until there's feedback from inside the Woody. What I'm reading from both the coaches and players is that they're glad Patricia was...
I think there's room for agnostic optimism without deeming it a home run. Follow the evidence. The evidence so far, while not in-game, has been in the weight and locker rooms and practice field and has been positive and articulated positively in contrast to Knowles. Maybe this doesn't...
Reading the various DB interview quotes this morning about Matt Patricia I can't help but see/apply the contrapositive as to Knowles. It's way early, but everything I've read from the coaches and players makes me think Day nailed this DC hire.
The metric being emphasized now more than I can remember is yards per carry. Given a reasonable, but not overwhelming, number of carries, that makes a lot of sense to me all the way around.
I'm feeling pretty good about this guy. I like that he saw what a year at tOSU did for QJ and that he's taking, clearly by working with Mick and cutting that weight, his final year seriously. That will also be helpful for Peoples and the fact that two stars co-existed and won an NC last year...
I like Demario working at receiver rather than TE, as reported in the Cleveland article, above. TE room is loaded and at 215 he's a load to handle out wide.
