After reading a recent update on UTs summer practices I am curious how the tOSU voluntary summer workouts are going? Or maybe I should start by asking what tOUS does for summer workouts?
The quarterback is not the only one who can make mistakes. Better execution by the more experienced players can potentially make up for inconsistent play by the QBs.
Examples from last years game.
1. Selvin Young has the ball pop out of his hands while he is untouched leading to a fumble. He...
I'll try to answer this since noone has responded yet. The first and most significant error is considering the entire Texas offense young, the QBs yes, but for the rest no.
7 starters return from last year, and the coaches consider Hills to be our best OL at this point meaning that 8 of the 11...
The last season Greg Davis relied heavily on a fullback was Ricky William's senior year. He has said that he plans to stick with the NFL trend of going without a fullback.
In 2002 and 2003 Will Matthews started 4 games total at fullback. I'm not sure if there were even that many FB starts in...
In the spring Melton was down to 255 or so. He was quicker and stronger and did a much better job picking his holes and keeping his shoulders low. He did play some DE the first week of spring, but that experiment ended when Ramonce was dismissed from the team. He is now the #3 RB and is more...
That would be the defense that held USC to 12 points below their average., which was simlar to the 11 point differential against tOSU, and both of those were away games.
If the 2006 UT defense is just as productive, and it will be at least that good, it will hold tOSU 14 points or more below...
I've often wondered about fans of opposing schools who can't tell the differnce between a steers head and a women's reproductive system. Do they end up with their dick chewed to a pulp when they stick it in a steers mouth?
Remind me, how many of those starting LBs and DBs are back, oh yeah, zero. You probably should not base any future defensive performances off of last year, particularly when it comes to pass defense.
I think that if the linebackers are rushing the QB, then there will be a lot of completions to UTs TEs and RBs.
If I were facing Texas I would leave the rush to the DL until the young QBs prove they can hit targets in coverage, although maybe mix in a zone blitz or three given some of the fast...
I think CB height is overrated provided he has a 40 inch vertical to make up for it. The difference between a CB tipping a ball away and WR making a reception is around 4 inches in hand position. Its only a real problem against 6-4 guys with close to 40 inch verticals like Sweed and Finley, but...
Re: Taylor I have to point out that participation in the voluntary workouts is not restricted to current players and/or students. A couple examples are that Roy Williams practiced with them last year while getting ready to play with Detroit and the entire Texas State team would come up a couple...
Rather than look at just one interval like five years I did a similar compilation of the top 4 winningest (coaching Div1A only) coaches.
1 2005 1) 13-Brown 2) 12-Carroll 3) 11-Several
2 2004-2005 1) 25-Carroll 2) 24-Brown 3) 22-Tubberville...
I found this list of recruits over the past 4 year on hornfans and thought you would find it interesting since it indicates that Tressel appears to be doing the most with the least as far as Rivals rankings goes. Mack isn't far behind.
It also fits with some posts other showing that Texas has...
Texas won't cover anyone in man, since the defense will be in cover 2 or Tampa 2 coverage nearly all the time.
The linebacker comment almosts certainly refers to Kelson being able to cover Bush on a wheel route in the Rose Bowl, a play that should have been an INT. But as I said, a single play...
I'm pretty sure that virtually every track coach in the world would disagree. Arm movement is a critical part of running technique. That said, football players may run with a greater sense of urgency when the ball is in their hands.
I apologize for those who would like to see more commentary...
I think it is maybe 5 or 6, that is why as classified soem as possibles, since I don't believe all those sub 4.4 numbers.
Someone asked about Selvin, and he was definitely a lot slower last year, as he was too heavy and his ankle wasn't healed. His ankle is well now and he is about 10 pounds...
And I can say that Kelson is faster than Reggie Bush because he covered him stride for stride on one play, but one must be careful using a single play as evidence.
Malcolm actually ran about the same distance since Pittman was running diagonally across the field while Jenkins was running...
It is a very tough thing to do since Texas and some other schools do not publish any times from practice, while other schools do. Becasue of that I use recruiting times from camps or services and track times. I also ignore hearsay, and message board quoted times, relying on those that are...
